Flight time/real time is the same?

The flight takes 6 hours in real life, so takes 6 hours on FS.

I couldnt fly for 6 hours tbh, max I have ever done a flight for was about 3 hours and I was away from the computer for most of the flight. 13 hours would be a pure waste of time

Where do you get this simulator? And do you need any equipment. And any tips on starting and any useful things I should know?

And if you're in the helping mood, drop me a PM about it :).

Thanks.

Hate to be a geek..

But when you go on any plane, to spain or just Gatwick to London.. Do you think the pilot actually sits there for the whole flight and flies it manually?

Umm, nope! :( - They litrally take it off to about 500ft, bang autopilot on and thats it til about 300ft on the ILS at the arrival airport!

cocaine
29-07-2007, 06:58 PM
yeah but when its on autopilot you still need to be there to change the heading and stuff?

yep, the fmc does it all. The FMC can also do autoland I think.

Yup.. No point in letting autoland do it unless you cannot see the runway lol.

Plus if it lands and your not there, then well your gonna errr run off the end of the runway because it wont make the throttle idle and brake for you.

sock
29-07-2007, 07:43 PM
lol ye i know unless u left 3 seconds before landing put the throttle to idle and set autobrake :P

it was just i was goin 2 slow cos i dint know what sped i shud land at in a 747 as it was first time in 747

MMOCCMonthly

I would do a long flight, but now I have FSX and its running at 1 - 5 frame rate and I don't know why!

Btw coming into landing in a 747, using visual and always aim high... bring it in with the nose up and back down... keeping it around half-throttle... then when you get nearer, bring it down to reverse, put on the brakes... and you could even just cut the engines, or two of the engines and re-start at the bottom to taxi.

sock
30-07-2007, 08:23 PM
lol no, I do know how to land, Its just I was too heavy i think, and dint know what speed i should have been it, and 747s don't put there nose down on landing<3 anyway I land 777s around 155 knots.

MMOCCMonthly
31-07-2007, 07:31 AM
Speed in a 747 - around 70 and bring it down, which will bring the back down.

i was going to buy this game, didin't know you had to fly planes for that long though.

what satisfaction do you get from flying a not real plane for 13 hours and wasting a full day? :S

LOL

It certainly will bring the back of the plane down..

You'll stall and fall out the sky.

Try a landing speed of about 140 knots.

sock
31-07-2007, 10:52 AM
I think I was at 140 knots, but I think I was a little bit to heavy, but when I was crusing how come ap made me have a 5 degree pitch up attiude?

just flew back to frankfurt in an a340 and i have to say one of my best landings and i've never even flew and a340 before, got it right on center, not too soft or hard, gently lowered the nose and it was my first time landing the a340. I did a perfect takeoff as well. So I am very happy with my flight :] flying back to gatwick tonight to position myself for a 'vatsim day' tomorrow where i do bout 10 hours of flying.
