My family had a dog ages ago and then she died when I was 1 and
now I want a dog.
My dad has said yes because he works away,
now I just have to convince my mum, everytime i bring the subject up she
ignores me.
I've even told her if she buys the food i'll buy everything else and she
won't have to do anything for the dog except drive to the vet.
She reckons i'll be just like my brother when they had a dog, he didn't walk it or anything.
Anybody got any tips on how to convince her to change her mind?

Show her your responsible as caring for a dog is a big responsibility.
I hope that helped :P
Oh if she lets you get the dog from a local rescue center as there is plenty that need a loving home.

I've already said that i'll put up with him/her all the time and she
said you'll get sick and tired of it after a few months which I won't
because if i would get sick of it I wouldn't of carried on trying to get one
for about 3 years.

Mmmm, Take care of someones dog for a day? Do something that would be concidered as responsible.Try to have a talk with her as well.

If my brother goes out, he usually leaves his dog at mine and I take care of him and stuff.
Also, everytime i bring up a dog she ignores me.

Just keep bringing them to the dog shelter, and show them innocent dogs that are in need of help! :(

You need to show her it's not a little craze, helping her out around the house, just being a nice person to show her how much you want this dog. Explain to her that you understand her point, but you are not like your Brother, and all you want is a dog to look after. Don't beg her and then go moody, nobody likes that, and don't over ask her. Say to her straight ' Mum, please don't ignore me, just listen to what I have to say'

Goodluck...hope this helped.

I know what problem you are going through but not only my mum doesn't want a dog but my dad doesn't want one either. Whoever said they cried and got one, you are one lucky person! Your parents must be a pushover.

Anyway, I have tried to get a dog ever since I was four and look at me now. Thirteen years old, no dog and a two cats which scratch at me whenever I stroke them. Have to admit, I would much rather have a dog. Tbh, it is either a nine year craze or I want a dog. Which one?

Now a suggestion: Tell her the pro's and con's of having a dog and if your dad wants a dog, ask him to talk to her. She cant exactly ignore her own husband. Like other people said, show responsibility... if you can, ask your dad to bring a dog round to the house, maybe a friend's dog or something. Care for it over the weekend and show your mum how good you are at looking after him/her and maybe she will give in. Tell her she won't have to do any of the work, whatsoever (except drive to the vet etc. etc.)

Do what my mum did, Bring one home out of the blue.

My mum hid a hamster in her drawer for like 2 weeks. ( with bedding and that stuff ;] )

ask her WHY she wont get one and tell her that your perfectly responsible because you walk others dog.
