Star Trek

I have been a fan of star Trek since I first saw an episode of the original series a few years ago, and they are finally making another movie! Yay. All I know so far is that it will be Directed J. J. Abrams (Co-creator, Director and writer of Lost), produced by Damon Lindelof (Writer of Lost)

Casting
So far the only cast announced are Zachary Quinto will play Spock, Leonard Nimoy who will be an older version of the spock and Anton Yelchin will be Mr Chekov.

Due for release Christmas day 2008

I thought that it was roumered that Matt Damon would be playing captain Kirk.

I wouldn't think so. My guess is they want to concentrate on the characters that people know already. I could be wrong though.

I'd imagine most hardcore fans would have seen him in the pilot and The menagerie parts 1 and 2 (Great episodes btw)
