View Full Version : Spam Section [NEW RULE?]

The Spam section has recently being attacked by loads of "DO THIS 4 FREE REP" also known as 'Advertising other forums'. I suggest that we get a new rule enforced in the Spam section

"No advertising or self-advertisement within the spam section"

and also make a few changes... if it's going to be a spam section then we should be able to just post anything pointless.

RANT OVER.

Hmm it would appear Spam has 2 sets of rules at the moment which seem to contradict each other:

Having said that with the new rules you may as well not have a spam section.
I am pretty gobsmacked to see the long tradition of spam on this forum completely wiped away in a few lines.

I completely agree with you there, either change it or get rid of it. The Spam section has turned into a Forum Advertisement. We also need to stop that contridiction of the rules, see if that helps.

Well actually I think closing this thread is silly and I not not sure the Mod had the authority to do it as there are very specific limited reasons a thread should be closed and I would have thought a SMod should have been consulted.

To answer the Mod's reply ( Why reply then close? Why not just close?)

QUOTE=Rizter;3787272]The rules have not changed. The enforcement of the rules has been strengthened due to the amount of threads being made that begin and end with 'hi'.[/QUOTE]

With great respect they totally contradict each other.

If you dont want post that begin with Hi or Hi der - dont have a spam section. In any event who is it upsetting - why shouldnt a thread begin with hi? It usually leads to a lot of friends having a good chat about what they have been doing in the day. Spam forums historically and traditionally are for pointless posts. Why has Habbox decided to change this after all this time?

And your views on the main point of the thread are so perhaps the post is a little more contructive? :)

Also on the main forum page the description of the Spam section is:

Use this forum for your pointless posts and threads that dont have a real purpose.

Double hmmmm..... :D

A33. Do not post on the forum using a different language. - Posting in any language other than English is not allowed (this does not apply to coding languages in the web design forums). There are some exceptions such as "Merci", "Au revoir", "Bonjour", "Ciao" or any other well known basic words. This rule does not apply to the foreign languages (http://www.habboxforum.com/forumdisplay.php?f=59) forum nor VIP sub-forums.
I beleive that was introduces due to mods not being able to tell if posts are breaking rules if they are in a differentt lagnuage because they cannot read it. How does someoneknow that yoursig aint bad. Not everyone knows pig latin or can reconise it

Well I think the original ones Seacat did were fine and worked for as long as I have been here with little problem.

The spam forum rules need to be revised or reinforced, I agree. Though the advertizers aren't the only problems ;)

Hey guys,

I've temporarily rejigged those two threads that were in the spam forum concerning the rules, i hope they are clearer now, ive also removed bits of the rules and merged the threads etc.

I'll look into this advertising malarkay and see what can be done about it.

Also added is the no advertisement rule, because we don't think the spam forum should be used in this way.

That sounds brilliant. Nice to know a few changes can be made
