Thorpe Park (Theme Park) Help.. +REP

Im going to go Thorpe park tomorrow booked da tickets online and the train buit im worried about the weather. not only is it rainy but it is also abit windy.. will loads be closed? Whats the parks polciy on weather etc? +Rep fro good answers

When i went and it rained they only closed one ride but it was a rubbish one anyway because it kept getting stuck.

No ive looked on multiple forecast for gthe past 5 days and it aint changed always beeen the same and its over thw whole uk so i doubt they get it wrong... Should it just be business as usual or not?

With gale force winds I expect most rides to be closed, I go every year, and the worst ive had is a powercut, but they have closed rides for rain before, so yeah.

Ive been to parks multiple times in rain. Sure it spoils it a bit, but not that much.
Its just not fun going on a 1.5mile long rollercoaster at 50mph. tad painful *****.

o yh; if its raining i advise you to go on the front row of stealth with your hands up for the duriation of it all.

TP wont close if it's bad weather, but if there are winds over 35mph the coasters will shut.

BBC say "heavy rain" and 29mph winds, so you should be ok.

I remember in a massive thunderstorm at Alton Towers the whole park lost power and I got stuck on the log flume, just at the top of the 2nd lift hill for a hour in the poruing rain before they decided to evacuate us.

At alton towers oblivion broke :] But after i'd been on it about 5 times. The park was deserted because school was closed that day for me and nobody else :D

Don't lie when your talking to a rollercoaster geek..

Oblivion will NOT get stuck hanging over the pit, the clutch has a manual disengage on it which will be used in the event of power faliure - Therefore your story about it being stuck is fake. Perhaps it was there for 5-10 minutes before they decided to manually disengage it but it certainly wasn't stuck.

Refunds are given at themeparks but very rarely, on the day I was at Alton Towers with the thunderstorm free tickets for another day where given to guests - I used an annual pass thus paying nothing to get in therefore didn't need a free ticket! ;)

My brother went with his school at the end of july and it was raining so most of the rides closed. All the good ones anyway. He said he only got to go on 2 inside ones. They gave him a refund anyway. Just go and see what happens and have fun. ;)

If any of you are interested and for future reference it was... GREAT! 2 rides shut samurai, which i wasnt to bothered about as the week before i had a go on that kind of ride at a travelingf themepark called funderworld and Quantum, which tbh i would have only gone on about once or twice.

My ride count was...

Stealth: 5
Colosus: 2
Nemesis: 3 or 4 cant remember
Tidal wave: 3
X:/No way out: 2
Rush: 1
Slammer: 1 (Oh my that is scary!)
Detonator: 2
Vortex: 2
Zodiac: 1
Rumba Rapids: 1 - after lunch as it is so bad :P

That was all..

No queue for tidal wave literally walked on :P (weather i guess)

The weather:

Cloudy all day with random drizzle all day :P
Quite windy at the top of detonator.
When i literally stepped out the park it started to pour lol - so lucky i guess :P

Stealth: 5 - Well done, this queue is usually 3 hours long.
Colosus: 2 - Dissapointed, could of got more in :P
Nemesis: 3 or 4 cant remember - Nice, this queue is usually quite big.
Tidal wave: 3 - Could of squeezed some more on.
X:/No way out: 2 - Good, queue for this can be big.
Rush: 1 - Dissapointed, this ride is a must-go-on.
Slammer: 1 (Oh my that is scary!) - Mine would be 0, I hated it.
Detonator: 2 - Pretty good.
Vortex: 2 - Pretty good.
Zodiac: 1 - 1?!?! This is worth more than that.
Rumba Rapids: 1 - after lunch as it is so bad - This ride is crap so 1 is ok.

Hands up all the way!

It was well sketchy when u go up and get to the top with hands up, your head feels really weird.. I cant explain it but anyone who has done it will know what i mean :D

Stealth is amazing. No way out sucked I thought, Tiadal wave was funy becuase i was wearing my Grays Ath shirt and it went skin tight but just as I got dry then came the rain. Nemisi was goood but I had sscreaming Indians infront of me and they screamed when the ride stoped. Collous was alright i got stuck with a fat kid who we call Putang.
