It has emerged that two RAF jets have intercepted a Russian bomber over the north Atlantic.
Typhoon interceptors shadowed a Russian Tupolev-95 "Bear" reconnaissance aircraft last Friday.

Typhoon shadows Russian Tupolev-95 "Bear"It is the first time the £60m Eurofighter has been scrambled on a genuine alert since it took over defence of Britain's airspace in June.

Doesn't surprise me, these Russian planes make me laugh.

Kind of an Edit: This is not the first time the Russians have done this they have done this two more times with different aircraft and both times RAF had to go out.

Well they have many advanced planes and have just announced plans to update their fleet.

Putin is doing this because he wants the world to be intimidated by Russia, I am amazed that our pushover Government actually sent planes after it.

I laugh at the people making out that the RAF is better than the Russian Air Force. The Russian Air Force is one of the best in the world (Wikipedia says it's the second) with some of the best technology.

Quite a few air forces are ranked above the RAF, actually (US, Russian, Israeli, possibly French). Not to say the RAF is awful; it's one of the best and I respect above most others. Many great RAF stories :P
