After finnishing all my other projects I am going to start on a news system.
I am basicly wanting to get some ideas of what you feel the system should need.
I will reward rep for ideas I like ;)
Current ideas
- Simple installation from fresh or from old Cutenews system
-- From Cutenews
--- News
--- Comments
--- Users
--- Templates
- wysiwyg interface
- Backup
- Templating system (use vars like Cutenews)
- Search functionality
- User groups
- Smilies
- Filtering on comments
- RSS tools
Thanks
Danny

Good luck Danneh boy =) As you have already stated, an easy auto-installer.. But an easy MySQL One like POWERpanel.
Something that like CHMOD's automatically.

Yes it will be MySQL powered and CHMOD will be done automaticly (if the server php version has that functionality)
Thanks for all your ideas guys

ummm, well, make it so you can add on mods, and make it so you and admins for the project, if someones rip, can shut it off, and have a name and shame thing -.-
You could get a brill comunity for it if you made it so you could use mods (modifications btw not moderators :P)
Good luck danny and keep us informed :)
O yeh i forgot to add, an autoupdate....

It is a news system, some of you are thinking of ideas that a CMS would have.
I'd have 4 different types of users, with a easy way to change permissions (Directly for their profile) and you can easily change what permissions do.
Like you could tick boxes for what a trialist can do.
Trialist News Reporter (News must be approved)
News Reporter
News Manager (Edits and approves news)
Administrator (Edits templates etc)
I'd also have HTML and BB Code.
A AJAX system for uploading images, so you just click 'upload' on the 'add news report' page and it uploads it there and then and a button to include it in the news report. Like uploading a attachment on gmail.
Like someone said, large database of Habbo furni, figures and images. Which could be all managed from you, so they could be hotlinked from your websites, meaning you can add images with out them needing to upgrade and download their news systems. I could help with that.
An option to add polls to news reports with lots of options, similar to the ones on vBulletin forums ;)
Vast selection of Habbo templates which come with it. Cutenews converter and backup manager. Possibly an option, not to use SQL like cutenews.
Habbo fansites need a unique and decent news system after all this time, so hopefully you can do it. I'd be willing to help with ideas, testing, reviewing and promoting it. Good luck :D

:o nice ideas there, how about integrating it with vbullitins, so you can post news straight of the forum as well, and if someones posted some good news, reporters, can click a button, to get that post and quickly edit and send to the news system -,- all that off top off my head!
sounds good!
you could add a search to find a specific article, and mabye you could have it a bit like a blog..

I will be starting design in Mid september.
The project will be under the Creative Commons Attribution 2.0 license.
Copyright will have to stay on the backend, the code wont be encoded allowing people to collaberate on the panel.
I am looking for names and I am still thinking if this should be part of Uploadz or something seperate.
I would like to hear all your views.

lol whats this act thing???
so yeah.. everyone will be able to use it?
Preferabley somthing which doens't invole MySQL, much alike CuteNews, a simple install infomation, easy to change settings, skinable options, you fill in the colors or use a pre-coded one, no CCS needed, obvisly non-exploitable, three ranks, Master, Admin, Writer and that's about it really.
