Habbo layout i've been working on

Been working on this layout for a few days , It's all made from scratch on paint , Don't be too harsh seeing as this is like my 5th layout i made:p

Pixel errors in the chains :) Some are white. Change the blue to a mroe dull colour then it would be great ;)

forgot to recolour them , i tried changing the blue to a light orange but it looked blerghh , +rep for pointing it out :)

I couldn't think of what to do for the navigation so i just took one of thoose old speach bubbles they had on sulake.com and recoloured it :D

I know by a fact you never made those navigations, + the navigation colour and content background colour doesn't go.

I would recommend macromedia fireworks for doing pixel designs. ;)

But Ill rate it 7/10 for trying +rep

Proof please :/ they cant be ripped seeing as i coloured it myself.
The navigation are speachbubbles recoloured with vistor text ,the speachbubble is from sulake.com

Lolol, Its from the old sulake site... and he has recoloured it for gods sake its a speech bubble, and it looks good?

Oh ok , I was stuck on what to put as a navigation then i just had a idea why not put a speach bubble , I probabaly got the idea from subconsciously remembering one of his layouts , its just popped into my head.

OK. I haven't done a detailed C&C in a long time, I may aswell give you some pointers.

Firstly I'm not to sure how to describe this, as I have seen designs similar. But, basically when I look at it, I get confused as you have a square content box, yet everything else is rounded; which to me looks faily odd. On the other hand, I can see why you done that as your banner finishes with a horizontal rule.

Secondly, I hate those colours, I dont know if it's a personal thing, but they're disgusting. If you are stuck on colour choice I recomend Dulux (yes, the paint company) they have an oustanding choice of colours, and they even tell you which colours contrast etc. If you want to be a little clever, try and use the colours used in the baner, so the colours flow and they aren't big block sections of colour.

Thirdly, the navigation. This is where it loses me kind of. As in the first coment, you have a square-ish design, yet the callouts are round... You should decide weather you wanted a rounded design or a square design. I may be contradicting, as I have seen designs that are both, but for some reason yours isn't working.

Although you may want to keep your navigation the same, I recomend it being lighter, and more bold so it attracts the user's eye, as this is the vital for the user. You have white, contrasting images which stand out, yet your navigation is dark and dull, when it quite possibly should be the reverse.

Finally, I think the background isn't suited to your design, your design is trying to be bright and vibrant, yet your background is holding it back. The background is sharp and crisp with blocked edges, where as your design has curved edges on the surround.


I think that is all I can come up with at the moment, just looking at it for the first glance. Good luck with the designs, and keep up the good work.

I'm not much of a fan sorry. :(

For a start the bright blue for the main content, why? It does't go with any other part of the layout. Then the font colours you have used don't go with the background behide them, look at the date and time bit, white then a blueish colour behided them just makes it hard on the eyes and hard to read, the black in the main content does't go at all with the bright blue colour, although the white you've used on the right boxs looks okay.

Next the left boxs are practicly invisible, yeah you should try and get people to read the main content but you still need them to navigate around the site properly, brighten that up a little.

The over all design seems old, try and design somthing new and unique, I know it's very hard to come up with a new style of design for any website and for a habbo fansite it's even harder but just keep trying untill your there and it's sure to pay of.

Finaly I think you should use a diffrent background instead of the metal, a greeny one, I think would look much better. :)

Thats for the CC , The content box is actually meant to look like a Habbo sticky note but it didn't turn out so well , the navigation doesn't actually have a shape seeing as its actually just boxes put on top of the background ( the navigation is connected to the disclaimer)
Im not too sure what colour to change the navigation to , i experiemented with several colours but they all seems to stick out too much , what colour would you reccomend?

I wasn't too sure on what kind of background to choose, i tried light bluey coloured backgrounds but they all seemed to hurt my eyes so i decided with a dark colour , I'll try look for something more appropriate :)

Also for the colours , seeing as i was using paint it was hard to find decent colours , so i mainly got the colours of the habbo homepage / habbo images

I agree that the navigation is too hard to see but i tried to make it all blend in by using the same colour as the border of the boxes , I made the content area bright so people knew there was a differnce between the bits and knew where to look for the actual content

Thank you to both of you , it actually helped alot , I'll keep expirmenting with colours and try make something unique :) I'll rep you asap , I've given out too much rep in the past 24 hours :(

Quick re colour, but the navigation colour could be different I think. It clashes with the disclaimer (vice versa). Hope this helped.

Would it look better if i changed the colour of the disclaimer or the nav?
I'm trying to recolour the layout so it has a greenish colour scheme :D
