1) i think you should make it a broader audience not just teens
2) if you're going to do it dont give up
3) plan it properly
4) allow budgets for advertising

Pretty much because its hard enough to get people involved and if its only open for teens that cuts down the possible involvement a lot.

Hey, I thought I should post because I actually know about this kind of thing!
So, By making your target market so specific (Such as a Teens only website) you are cutting out a large amount of potential customers/clients/listeners.
This in turn would reduce revenue from GoogleAds etc, but at the same time it also decreases the hits your website will get. Word of mouth is the largest advertising method there is, you have to make sure people want to tell others of this fantastic new website.
But lets go back onto potential customers and your target market. When you are making a website you should consider the following but at the same time allow for some common sense (A website wont normally be built for 70-80 year olds)
1) Your website should appeal to everyone if it is not aimed at a specific market, this helps ensure that people dont think you are leaving them out.
2) Your content must be suitable for all ages if the target market you are aiming at holds the age group of 0-15 years. Parents dont exactly want their children looking at ****ographic images or at very rude jokes.
3) If you go with a radio site, Make sure your DJs play music that has a wide variety, also remember to make sure songs with vulgar or fowl lyrics (Such as a song with a lot of swearing or a song with many sexual references) are only be played after 9pm.
If you want your site to be popular, you have to advertise. When advertising make sure that you know where your ads will be placed (You dont want adverts aimed at older people on a teen forum)
Your website should be clean but at the same time have a unique style. It should appeal to your target market but at the same time should be accessable for everyone (WCAG are a good place to start)
So when making your website, ensure you know what target market your site is aiming itself at!
Sorry for it being a bit all over the place but I hoped I helped,

Never ever EVER use the word teen in the name for a site for teenagers, it makes it sound like its made by a bunch of adults trying to be cool.

How abouts just Otunes
Online Tunes thats stands for but you would probally get sued by itunes :P
Urm, I think you should aim it at everyone except yound children etc...
You should do a radio with different shows at different times, and when a person signs up, they put their DOB and then they can put interest etc, and then they get a timetable of when they can listen etc (If its an show for an older audience then younger people will be blocked from tuning in!) and then when you get confident enough and get more djs, then get more radios built in and call them channels :) lol
Set your target high then set mini targets along the way, and btw u cant do this by yourself you need a big team willing to help :P
Good Luck!

Before you rush into your designing process/buying domains etc. If you still attend school, or college so on and so forth, open up Word or Excel and make a survey, pass them around see what people think. Don't just get one forums opinion. (make sure you get permission first, dont just fling them 'round willy nilly). I see potential, but there are a few of them already out there.
Even when you do get your site up, remember to have comitted DJ's, and also reserves incase one DJ forgets about it. Possibly, if you're getting enough hits, start selling advertising space on the website and also on the air. Earn some money, and give some money to your staff for their hard work.
Anyway, good luck. I've seen many idea's like this, but still, if you're commited, you'l go far.

1) Reseach
2) Get a group of people
3) Managment - Set people tasks
4) Design (This may take a long time)
5) Domain.
Domain is the last thing you need, without the rest, there wouldn't be a site.

1. Never knew Teentunes was used before, apologies.
2. Michael, come on MSN so we can discuss this (I thought we were doing this project together..)
3. Otunes is so simular to iTunes that it would look a lot like a copy tbh. It's like calling your site Teen-Capital FM for example, it's just changing a bit of something that already exists.
