Oh cool. Do you live in a really rural or innacessible area? Because that's usually the reasons for home tutoring.

One of my relatives lives on fair isle and is taught over the internet lol

State school. The sixth form I go to is full of people from Private Schools and I did better than almost everyone I spoke to, so private education is obviously not as good as it is hyped up to be. It comes down to the person more than the school I think.

Private schools are much better, less trouble making and less political correctness, however there are some very good state schools aswell.

lol, well yeah the area im in is just field's because when we moved in me and my dad went driving around trying to find school's but we could'nt find any local so we resorted to home tutoring but i bet being taught over the Internet would be wierd though but in some ways kl :D

I think private education should be abolished. I go to a state school, it used to be private but they got a sponser and became public. now its becoming an academy.

i hate the poshness that you seem to get from private school students they seem to look down their noses because their mummies and daddies pay thousands for school when they are being taught the same thing as noraml people?

i went to private school from the age of 2 (nearly 3) t'ill i was 10.
i absolutely HATED it.
you were pushed way too hard, and had to do french and spanish from the age of 5, as well as pointless lessons like speech training.
The only good thing i could say about it was the skiing lessons that we had from age 4.

State.

My mates is getting home tutored due to bullys.

So Yeah I think its about the student themselves NOT the school
although sometimes it can help.

Public (which ironically actually means private) schools generally have the advantage. I am talking very generally. They get to be choosy about their staff, and because of the income generated their students can be offered better opportunities.
Students in Public schools can often achieve better grades just because of the extra support that is offered, that state schools cannot always offer.
Not all public schools are good.
Not all state schools are good.
Neither are all bad.

And it also depends on the student.

60% student 40% school - is what they tend to reckon.

As a private school student I think the half of you lot have got the wrong impression. You think everyones really posh and loaded and speak like "Daddy yar get me a new PS3 with 40 games now". Well at my school there's not one posh speaking person in my year. It's overpriced, however that's life. I think private school's are a better enviroment too also the classes are smaller and I work better in smaller classes.

That is completely true, its the same at my school, everyone at the other schools thinks we are all posh but we aint, half the people that go there are on scholarships so dont even have to pay, there are even a few that are like super poor just they can go cause theyre smart.

Private schools are better for learning although it is extremely boring and you get tonnes more work

For example my sister goes to a state school, she had 5 lessons a day and like 1 homework a night, i have 7 lessons a day and about 4 45 minute homeworks.

Hmm, thats aload of crap sorry, yes to less political correctness but who goes round calling everyone for everything now anyway, and private schools arn't what their cracked up to be.

I go to an academy, and I think it's fine. The teachers are great and I suppose so are the pupils, you have your scallies and crap but tbh they don't say nothing anyway.

No sorry.

It's PROVEN by test scores, that Private is better than State, I go to a State and it's terrible to be quite frank, some of the behaviour that goes on all the time is disgusting.

I guess it all depends on the area that you pull people in by.
We get the "posh" end of Wollaton but we also get the rough part of Nottingham. Our school stamps down on bad behaviour early on though , mind you we also have some appauling behaviour!

Thing is if you look at the school league tables, there are some state schools that have btter results than their private counterparts.

Iv'e been to one of the best state schools in the UK and one of the worst in my reigon, there is a big difference in teaching between the two. Also I found that the better school had more of a religious ethos, whilst the opposing school didn't have much of a religious view.

We don't have a religious Ethic and we're in the top 15% i think :)

Also leauge tables dont really matter as most 'dumb' students get told not to turn up to there exam as it will effect the school.

grammar.
we refuse state funding so therefore the building is falling apart and we have no money.
gonna do sixth form at a catholic state school.

oh and private schools arent necessarily good, my mom teaches at one and was suprised at how many secondary school kids there are way below where they should be. just 'coz you spend lots of money doesn't make the kids there any brighter.

I go to a state school, and its real fun, we have a laugh and get stuck in when we need to.

I know some people who go to a private school, they smoke and drink and carry on just like the rest of us. I use to stereotype private schools before meeting them. Just because you have money dosent mean your a rich snob who asks daddy for a mercedes for christmas
