Broke my metatarsal playing football today. Didnt half hurt.
Anyway it got me thinking is this down to the new lightweight boots or just pure luck?
Rooney, Beckham, Neville - the best of them have done it. So why? Post your views.
IMO its pure luck

It has been enhanced by the boots but it's not solely down to them - it's down to the conditions, European football, pitches, balls, socks, training and all that.
They all have something to contribute to it.

Boots aint just to blame but people wearing light boots will probley get more injureys than people that got normall boots on

Cahill, Vaughan too.
I read on the Everton OS, that they're going to be trying new boots, which will protect their metatarsal better (:

Urm its really complicated. Because we "illegally" approached players (********t btw)
were not in the league..
However yesterday we had 9 players for 70 minutes and we beat poole borough who had 15 and came 2 or 3rd in the dorset division.
Not bad imo but tbh it wasnt down to me as i was in hospital by the time we had finished the match :( First 10 minutes i got injured.

You should wear proper boots then Carl ;) only kidding. Metatarsal injuries were virtually unheard of about ten years ago. So, in my opinion I think it's new style of boots, with no real protection for the foot. Made light instead of strong etc. Anyways, you can't really blame it on the pitch. Premiership players play on perfect pitches every week and we play on bumpy and muddy pitches all the time and we hardly ever get them!
