I have a paper round at the moment, but I hate it so much, I would much rather get a Saturday job in a shop. Does anyone know of any shops that will employ a 14-year old?

Some fruit and veg shops employ 14/15 yr olds
but for most shops you need to be 16

superstores such as iceland sometimes allow you to stack shelves. my brothers friend does that, and at the time he was like 13/14.

go on connexions website for more information.

Try like cafes and tea rooms etc, that is the best place for people your age. I work in a cafe on Saturdays, however I am 17 :(

Try at locally run shops/cafes/resturants. But you might be hard pressed to find a job I'm afraid. There is also no minimum wage for you, so make sure you agree a wage and write it down, otherwise you may end up working for something silly.

Theres also a nieche market of people wanting someone to walk their dogs and do odd jobs around their houses, that might be your best bet, but you'd have to come across as very trustworthy, organised and be good with people (most of them are elderly). It wouldn't be a regular income (for odd jobs usually) but it would be a good one. :)
