Ultimate Hunter Guide 1-99


Welcome to my Hunter Guide, firstly well done on deciding to take on the challenge of hunting, you have picked the right guide to help you along your journey.


This guide has taken alot of time and effort so please respect that, if you believe i have made a mistake or you think it needs some improvements, just let me know, and not be rude about it. Lets begin and good luck!


Before starting Hunter, it is highly recommended that you have fairy rings, this will speed up the process of hunting. So always carry a Dramen Staff while you are Hunting. The main fairy ring code needed is 'AKS' which is south of yanille.


To begin Hunter you will need the equipment, you can buy the equipment in Yanille which will cost you nothing over 5k. To save you time, it is best to buy all the equipment straigt away and store it in your bank. You will need the following: 5 box traps, 2 bird snares, a teasing stick, 5 butterfly jars, and a butterfly net.

Levels 1-9
Hunt: Crimson Swift
Location: South East of Yanille located on the east beach [East of Fairy Ring 'AKS'
Required for 969 hunter exp: Crimson Swift: 29


These are very slow XP , so you have to be patient at all times. Just drop the bones and feathers. Nobody uses them. You can only use 1 trap at this point.

Levels 9-20
Hunt: Copper Longtails
Location: Northwest from Grand Tree, by the piscatoris colony. West of falconer.
Required for 3,501 hunter exp: Copper Longtail: 58


Again, these are slow XP, Just drop the things you catch as again, you will not need them. You can do it, i know you can!

Levels 20-29
Hunt: Tropical Wagtails
Location: Southwest from Yanille glider. Right near the west wall (black mark on map)
Required for 7,561 hunter exp: Tropical Wagtail: 79


Now you can use 2 Traps so it may seem a little quicker but the xp is still quite slow. Set up the traps like i have done in the image. Hunter does get better, i can say that! :)

Levels 29-50
Hunt: Green Salamanders (Swamp Lizards)
Location: Canifis, South East from the gate entrance (see world map)
Required for 89,302 hunter exp: Swamp Lizard: 588


Now you can use 3 traps, from now Hunter gets a whole lot better. At first they may seem a little slow but the levels come flying your way. You will need 3 small fishing nets and 3 ropes. If i was you i would take double the amount because Randoms can be annoying and you will lose your equipment. See picture below:

Levels 50-60
Hunt: Orange Salamanders
Location: Into the al kharid desert, head south east until you see a bridge, head east again and you will see oranges.
Required for 172,409 hunter exp: Orange Salamander: 770


Again, you should take double the amount of equipment. You will also need desert robes and around 10-15 waterskins. These are good xp!

Levels 60-75
Hunt: Red Salamanders
Location: North of Castle wars
Required for 936,679 hunter exp: Red Salamander: 3,444


These may seem slow but actually are very good. You can now use 4 traps so take 8 ropes and 8 small fishing nets. I highly recommend this. Do these until 75 which should not take long atall!

YOU WILL NOW NEED TO GET LARUPIA, CUT A LOG WITH AN AXE AND USE ON THE LARUPIA TRAP, USE THE TEASING STICK TO GET IT NEAR THE TRAP, AND THEN JUMP OVER IT, IT WILL FOLLOW AND YOU WILL HAVE TRAPPED IT. DO THIS 3 TIMES AND THEN TAKE YOUR STUFF TO THE VARROCKS FANCY DRESS. THEY WILL MAKE THE LARUPIA FOR YOU. HAVING SAID THIS, I BELIEVE LARUPIA DOES NOT HELP, BUT THAT IS UP TO YOU


Levels 75-90
Hunt: Red Chinchompas
Location: Next to lake near tropical wagtails.
Required for 4,135,911 hunter exp: Red Chinchompa: 15,608


These are now good xp and good money. Make sure you take around 15 Box traps just incase you lose some. At level 80, you can use 5 traps. Make sure you set them up like i have done in the picture below:

Levels 90-99+
Location: Just south of Fairy ring AKS, just north east of the other lake. Not the above one.
Required for 7,688,099 hunter exp: Red Chinchompa: 29,012


I found this place was better when you were around 90, i say this because this place is much more busier than the other hunt spot. When your 90 you will have control over alot of other people. Set up as i have done.

Good tip to stealing worlds, bring a tinder box and an axe, cut logs light a fire on the guys spot and then they log. :)

If you have fairy rings, put in AKS then go east

If not, go south of yanille past feldip hills and then go east :)

If all fails, look at map :)

at the very start, in the list of things to buy, you suggest buying 5 butterfly jars, and a butterfly net. after looking briefly through this guide i have not once seen anything that mentions what you should use them for... to fix this you could either get it removed, or include some information on what to catch with them, at what level, etc.

When u go up to the hunter by the tree theres butterfly ruby ones better xp so lay a bird down and get butterfly's :D lvl 15 u have to be to catch them

Which outfit could you recommend? I have 70 att, 85 str, 60 def, 70 ranged, 72 hp, 53 magic, 48 prayer. & 43 slayer atm. & im not very rich since I was tricked by a "safe" rs-habbo trader.. But I have around 10k lobs (uncooked & cooked), and other random items.

when you first start off, you will be on like 20-30k xp an hour

by the time you get to 80+ the xp rate will shoot up to nearly 100k

I didn't copy no guide, all guides are similar no matter who creates them. The layout i provided is exactly how i managed to get 99 Hunter which is DIFFERENT to a guide i followed. -REP for your stupid accusation.

just a note: friend of mine done a few tests for hourly exp and cash between level 70-80 and found that grey chins were better for exp as you caught more and location was quieter.

he also found that the amount he caught was worth mroe than the amount of reds he caugt in the same period of time. Dont know how this is affected for higher hunter levels though.

lol yeh, best to try it out for yourself, but my friend did test out numerous times and got the same results.

I must add, from level 69-75, catching Kebbits (Spotted, Dark and Dashing Kebbits) in the Falconry training ground (West of gnome stronghold) earns lightning fast XP!

It costs 500gp to start a session, you need not take anything, you can fill up 28 slots in your inv with their fur and bones in 2 minutes, and each inv full earning you a couple of thousand experience points. Drop all the items and start again. Never very packed and very easy to catch the kebbits

Good guide but a couple of errors/pointless leveling.
#1 - no point going up to 50 hunter on lizards when u can start orange salamanders at level 47. Same with reds, no point going to 60 when u can do red salamanders at 58.
#2 - mentions wether you should bank the lizards (this is the prob i had seeing as i banked lizards which we're 800ea and then thought orange would be higher and found out they were like 80ea LOL so yeh would be cool to mention that)

Going to 50, makes it easier to catch them then at 47, and same for getting 60 rather then 58.
Also no point in banking lizards or sallys terrible money tbh, just sell ur chins =/

But whats the point lol, the xp is better at 58 instead of 60 .. dont make a diffrence. And Lizards sell 850ea at GE, i made like 450k from lizards to oranges. You should add it in the guide.

well it depends how long you play but usually around 1-3 months

well if your wanting profit from 99 hunting then do red chimps which should get you anything between 20-30M (takes around 1-2 months depending how much you do per day)

OR if you want to do quick i recommend Grenwall (best XP)

I used this guide from 1-99 hunter and I can tell you that is probably the best guide on the internet. I mean that seriously. I might have started red chins earlier, but besides that this guide is great. Thanks!

i was 37 hunter when i started following this guide. i'm now 51 and following it in order. however, the orange salamanders tend to break your trap alot. and personally i'de think the amount of oranges to greens you'd catch, you're better off sticking with the greens. also because you don't have to lump around 10+ waterskins!

If you havent noticed the required level to use 3 traps is now increesed to 40 instead of 30/29. I have 31 hunter now and gaining levels to do you method
I am dithering between using tropical wagtails or laprias.
I never knew laprias attack you so i almost died when i first tried its :P
i got 50 combat so i use hunter as means of fun and money :)

It wasnt a copy and theres no need to get rude.

He got hunter pretty fast after it was released and made his own tut as it was when he got 99 if its changed then its not his fault but he in no way copied.
