View Full Version : Best age for 'comming out'
Personally i think most people should come out at college, or just before because by then everyone has matured, if you come out at school.. people get abuse - which they shouldnt get.. they shouldnt even have to worry about comming out.. they should just be able to be open about it but meh, thats life.
Areas in the country differ, so what age do you think people in your 'area' should come out, also, please tell me what part of england your from [:

Yeah,
if you say it in college people will just accpet the fact of what you are.
In school, people willl just take the ' p' or the mick.

Tbh, i'm quite prejudice against homosexuals. Just dont understand it, myself, though i would'nt mock them. I think people should come out when they feels ready to have a relationship with a member of the same sex.

well at my college, i dont think some people are mature enough to accept that someone is gay. my college is from year 10-13 so the year 10s deffo dont accept it, as i have seen. but it seems like its more accepted in 6th form, as yh everyone is more mature. i really couldnt care less if someone was gay or not, because peoples sexuality shouldnt matter, what should matter is the person themselves.

If you are bi, around 15, if ur just gay probs around 17. Could be better coming out earlier though so everyone knows rather than it just coming as a surprise to them all, and your friends wouldnt like that you kept it from them.

Whenever you tell someone, you always get some sort of reaction anyway.
Sometimes its good.
Sometimes its bad.
I find it much easier to tell ppl im Bi at college, no 1 realy cares if ur bi, gay or straight.
But theres this 1 boy whos also Bi and he thinks im saying im Bi just to copy him and im like ***? Its not sumin you say cos some 1 else is :S
Its quite funny cos there more interested not like Ewww go away

to your friends... probebly 15/16 when most people are more openminded. but you could come out at any age really... just need to make sure that your friends arn't immature

I dont think the age a factor, you should only come out when your ready and dont mind people knowing your true sexuality, although it could be easier to come out in college, there are problems in the near future if you decide to come out later than that, but the sooner the better because the younger you are, the easier it is for others to understand the trauma you prepare yourself for (e.g. fearing ridicule and prejudice). But yeah, only come out when your ready, not just because you think its the right age too.
