It could use some extra work on it, (& btw, the later on the evening it gets, the better my ideas become, so I dont think what time you made it mathers)

Things you could do:

Put the login button underneith the input fields, (I know it's something new to put it on top but everyone is used to finding it underneith it, so your mission would be to make it as user-friendly as possible I asume ?
Change the blending effects on your main title "Plus news", maybe try only 1 effect, a very smooth/light gradient from lets say "#EDEDED" to "#FFFFFF" & nothing else, just that.
the gradient on your login button, try the colors i mentioned above, as yours seem a litle bit to dark
Your input fields for username and password. I would remove the drop shadow, and just make it a plain color, a very light color. Or to keep it in the same style as the rest you could just use that same gradient again as I mentioned above.
Also try and put the style of your text in there not on 'smooth' but on 'none'. (this is for small texts like 9 to 13px. if you use fonts which would be an image in the design (meaning something you can't change via html) then i'd suggest to use the 'smooth' style. If you get my point?

These are just some suggestions

Regards,
Oli

.... not exactly a copy... who new login boxes could be so similar....

Oh wait.... They are nearly always a box in the middle of the screen, with a login box and a password box and handly secruity extras..

He's hardly an idiot, and plusNEWS' design is better than simplenews' in all honesty.

You can hardly criticise about drop shadow.

No, I'm saying that because... oh yeah, it's gosh darn true.

Whether I like, or dislike someone, it's their work, not them I am rating in the end.

I'm mature enough to ignore it Kane, but you, obviously are not.

Anyway, the login box looks ok, few tweaks required but problems get solved over time.. just need to knock a few dents out of it....

No, I just don't talk like a kid, like you, for example;

LOL U ONLI SAY DAT CUZ U H8 ME LOZEROUIDSDSDAS."!111EQS.D;.;'

Like I said, I'm mature, whether you class mature conversation as important conversation is your perogative but, you need to mature, and fast.

Thats a very true fact and if I was him personally I would take that into mind and try to work on his matureness.

Kane, this is one of the biggest Forums on the internet? It's home to Habbo's biggest designing community and a lot of other non-Habbo designers use it.

I can assure it you it's not "little" nor "crappy".

Also, if you hate it so much then go to a new forum?

Kane, Personally if I was you mate, calm down its not 'crappy' at all, its a nice small community yes occasionally people get very annoyed and start on people but thats the way life is, you come across people like that, welcome to the big wide world son. If you want to take your designing further respect other peoples point of view on your work because at the end of the day there only trying to help you progress and there not saying oh your a crap designer they're just as I say again trying to help you. You either take there advice or move on to a new forum or website and if you do think its 'crappy' why stay?

Edit: :( Invent beat me to my speach.

Exactly, but he said he doesn't know any others so obviously he enjoys it here otherwise he would have done the same Google search and would have left this forum in under 10 seconds ages ago :P

I enjoy it here as it has designers of around the same age which is helpful as some are around the same level of expertise as you.
