Extended font-face support. With these new updates (we hope Opera will be adding them to their next build, late 2008 for firefox etc.) you will be able to define ANY font located on a web server and download it to the visitor's computer (temporarily) so you can use it on your website. Which means basically, you could use any downloadable font on your website without worrying about people that don't have the font installed.
An example of how you will do this in CSS Is:
@font-face {
font-family: 'The New Font';
src: url('http://www.example.net/newfont/');
}
So yeah, discuss how great this is! :P

Yup! Will be GREAT for fansites, sad thing is, we can't really use it until late next year as compatibiality in only one browser isn't good for any site.
wow.
thats pretty useful!

wow I agree.
Nice feature, what does it support? TTF or just that embeded font type?

I generally assume TTF, I'll try to find out.

I hope it uses TTF and not:
1. Portable Font Resources (.pfr): TrueDoc technology was developed by Bitstream and licensed by Netscape. It can be viewed by Navigator 4.0+ and Explorer 4.0+ on Windows, Mac, and Unix platforms.
2. Embeddable Open Type (.eot): Compatible only with Explorer 4.0+ on the Windows platform. Create .eot files using Microsoft's free Web Embedding Font Tool (WEFT).

Somewhat pointless until IE start supporting CSS3 as whether we like it or not IE6 and IE7 are still two of the biggest used browsers.

Mozilla Firefox is gradually becoming more and more popular; I mean, come on, my Media Studies teacher uses it now!

It's not really going to be any good for a while as IE will take a while before it becomes compatible with CSS3.
It is compatible with firefox though right?

In late 2008.
In CSS3 you will also be able to define drop shadow to your custom text, boxes whatever!

Well that feature will only be a tad useful as I usually just use borders and margins to do that right now anyways...
And as for this font thing it will have alot of trouble becoming mainstream due to the fact that IE6 hasn't received an update in God knows when... and what everyone else is saying about IE7 - it is very commonly used!
So ya, for the time being (and next couple years) I'm going to stay safe and stick to my images for uncommon fonts ;)

Hmmm they should add a stroke: 1px #000; or something that would be usefull also.
