Hey :)

I'm looking at buying a first car but to be honest I don't know the first thing about them lol.

I have considered the Toyota Aygo but I've been advised off of it as although it's a really hot car I wan't it is quite expensive for a first car which I could wreck. lol

I'm kinda wanting to maybe spend a couple of thousand or something on a good car (or even pay it up :S) lol so basically just suggest me decent cars which are good for first time drivers and will have low insurance etc.

Cheers :)

vauxhall corsas and ford fiestas are always popular with first time drivers.

the model before the latest one (for both cars) are ideal, i was looking at them for my first car and i saw quite a few which id like.

others that i saw included the citroen saxo and volkswagen polo.

you want to find one with low mileage in particular as youll know that it wont fall to pieces as soon as you drive it ; )

got to agree with downfall there, the second latest corsa definetly.
peugeot 206 are good too, although some say they are 'hairdressers cars' lol.
there both very low insurance groups too, so a bonus ;]

have a look on http://www.autotrader.co.uk/

you can choose what your search should be filtered into for example cars within your budget or low mileage etc

I recommend a Ford Fiesta ( the one before the re-model). It's such an easy car to drive and isn't too expensive, although insurance cost me about £800 and at the time it cost me over £8,000, but it should be alot cheaper with the new model out now.

My friend had a citroen saxo for his first car, ford fiestas are also excellent first cars.

saxos are ok but the problem is that boy racers use them a lot, so they have bad crash records and cost more to insure. clio is fairly good, thats what i got for £700 but looking for a cheaper one still

I have rep'd everyone I can atm! :) Will give out the rest later!

Thanks a lot for the help but keep the suggestions coming! I think I will go to a car market which I know of and see how it goes to get some rough ideas for price ranges as well.

Cheers :)

Fiesta everytime, dream to drive and has build quality to knock French cars out of the water and possibly into the clouds.

Vauxhall Corsa or Renault Clio's seem to be popular for first time drivers. Though some people have said Corsas seem alot bigger inside which can be intimidating for first time drivers. Both are good on insurance aswell, hope this helped.

Cars like Kia, Hyundai are normally the type of cars that are cheap in price & you can get a pretty good car. Nice too. I have a Kia Sorento & it wasn't too expensive. You can always look at used cars but make sure you get a background check on a used car. Some people find problems after buying a used car.

Fiestas and corsas are simple first cars cos they cheap to buy and cheap to insure. Though if you want a little bit more a nice clio is a perfect car because if your lucky to pick up a rt model it will have toys like power steering, electric windows/mirrors, fog lights and alloys (basic standard ones)

i'd go for the Fiesta ST. it's a 2 litre engine and the insurance companies will hammer you but worth every penny ;)

Hatchback:I'd go for a cheap version of a Renault Clio

Saloon(Or w/e):The Mondeo(Old or new) is a good choice because it is pretty reliable and has pretty good features.

So, yeah...Second car i'd get is something like A Mitty Evo :D
