Gym Class Heroes guide to … Making a pking video
Hello, I am gym class heroes. My previous names are Wayans bros. and c0n5truct10n.have you ever wondered how to make a pking video? Well Today we are going to learn how to create one! Now I know what your thinking, “I already know how to make a video” and “Why should we use your guide”. Well the answers to these questions are because my guide is simply the best. Not only have I write it myself, But I have also added pictures. Now that we have got that sorted, we can get to the good part. The guide it’s self.
I’ve split this guide into 4 sections.
Section 1- Getting started
Section 2- Recording
Section 3- Editing
Section 4- The music
Section 1 - Getting started
Before we even think of making a pking video we are going to need a programme to record it. There are loads of screen recording programmes about. Such as hyper cam and Camtasia studios. I am going to be using Camtasia studios. If you do not particularly like these two then you can always search Google for another screen recoding programme.
The links for these programmes are bellow. These are only free trials
Hyper cam
http://hyperionics.com/downloads/HC1Setup.exe
Camtasia studios
http://www.techsmith.com/download/camtasiatrial.asp
When you have downloaded camtasia and you open, it the loading screen should look like this:
http://www.habboxforum.com/http://img250.imageshack.us/img250/6695/camtasiaboxxo7.png (http://imageshack.us)
Every time you use camtasia a box should pop up which says:
http://www.habboxforum.com/http://img99.imageshack.us/img99/5467/camtasiafirsttimeyz5.png (http://imageshack.us)
You should click I would like to evaluate camtasia studio and then click Finnish unless you have a software key. You can get software keys when you buy camtasia studios or you can search Google for one that someone else had. But I warn you this is illegal. This is the end of Section 1.
Section 2- recording
Now that you have everything you need we are ready to start recording. If you have not read section then I suggest you do otherwise you will not have a programme to record with. To start recording you will have to click file, then new project (ctrl N). then click make recording. A box will pop up which will look like this:
http://www.habboxforum.com/http://img229.imageshack.us/img229/9134/popuppo0.png (http://imageshack.us)
You should click select area to record. It will then come up with 4 red lines. Just click anywhere on the screen. Don’t worry if the screen doesn’t fit right because you can always change the shape of it anyway.
Like this:
http://www.habboxforum.com/http://img250.imageshack.us/img250/5666/screensizezd0.png (http://imageshack.us)
Everything inside the green dotted lines will be recorded. Now that you’ve done this, you can now record your pking trip. Once you have finished recording, press the stop button. It will then pop up with a box which you can watch you’re recording on.
If it is ok press save if it is not then you can press delete and record it again. Once you’ve got the right video then press save. It will pop up with the usual save box you will have to give it a name. I named mine pking trip as bellow:
http://www.habboxforum.com/http://img222.imageshack.us/img222/9853/saveaswf2.png (http://imageshack.us)
It will save it as a camrec file.
It will then come up with a list of 3 options. The options will be edit my recording,
Produce my video in a shareable format and create another recording. I suggest you click edit my recording unless you don’t want music in your videos and text captions. Here is what the box looks like:
http://www.habboxforum.com/http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/892/captionon1.png (http://imageshack.us)
This is the end of Section 2.
Section 3 - Editing
Now that you’ve done the first two steps you should be ready to edit your video. This is the hardest part of the tutorial. If you have followed every step your screen should look like this:
But of course a different picture in the middle. First of all you should watch the video and see which parts you don’t want. You wouldn’t want 3 minutes of walking around in your video, would you now? When you find a few minutes or seconds of footage you don’t want, you should highlight it from the begging and the end of the footage you don’t want then right click and press cut selection as shown bellow:
Once you have cut out all the footage you do not you can add text to certain parts of the video. To do this find a part of your video were you would like to add text and click captions. Once you have done this a box will pop up. Press ok. Now your screen should look something like this:
As you can see there is a box to the left were you can add text. Click on it and then write what text you would like to appear in your video. I put hammer time as shown bellow.
As you can see I have highlighted a blue circle this is because you will need to drag this to the point in the video were you want you’re text to appear. Then click finnish and a second blue circle will appear. Drag this to the bit were you want you’re text to Finnish showing. Do this as many times as you want till you’ve added all the text you need. Watch you video just to make sure this is correct.
This is the end of step 3.
Step 4 - The music
Now that your video has got text captions and all the editing is done. It is time for my favourite and perhaps the most important part of a pking video. Well any video. The music. Music is very easy to add but first of all you should decide what type of music best suits it. Once you have the type of music saved onto your computer you will need to add it to the video. If you cant get a cd with the song on then there are ways to download them. The programme I use is lime wire. Lime wire can be downloaded at www.limewire.com (http://www.limewire.com) once you have got your music ready. To put your song on go on import audio then go to the folder were your song is located and double click on it. You should have something looking like this:
Now drag the song to the start of your time line and then let go. If the song is longer than your video you will need to delete the extra part of the song. Once you have done this your video is done. Buy how will other people see your video? Well to upload your video to youtube you will need an account. Or you can use another hosting website. Go into file, and then click upload to then click screen cast. It will then require you to create an account. Once you have done this sign in and then upload your file. It will then give you a link to your video which you can then give to your friends. Thank you for spending a few minutes of your time reading this guide. I hope you have a great time creating pking videos.
