Basically my friend needs help, my friend recently brought a vbulletin (leased) forum.

The beginning step says
"Before installing vBulletin you need to have PHP and MySQL and have created a database within the MySQL engine to hold vBulletin's data."

Where can you find a php and mysql for a WINDOWS XP COMPUTER?

Is it possible to run a vbulletin forum (leased licence) on windows xp or do u need linux?

MOST HELP, I will forward on and if u want a job (if it EVER runs) then you stand a bigger chance.
Note: no1 say search them in google please, LINKS if POSSIBLE

you dont install the vb onto your pc. You install it onto your server (the thing your hosting give you)

Just ask someone on the forum to install it.

Just ask someone on the forum to install it.
if i told my mate that and he PRETEND he agreed, then surely the person that installed it can also delete stuff etc... :S

You can install it on a window XP machine. I had it running on mine and i used Apache, PHP, MySQL, PHPMyAdmin and it ran fine :P

But then for people to get on it they'd need your IP to link to it and your router would need to put you outside the DMZ allowing hacker attacks to your computer.

You could always find a cheap/free host with PHP and mysql easily :P

One simple word; XAMPP.

Download: http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp.html
1) Install XAMPP, then go to C:/ > xampp > htdocs > and unzip vB from there
2) Make sure Apache and SQL and anything else you want is started
3) Then go to http://localhost/phpmyadmin/ and create a database
4) Open up WinMySQLAdmin which comes with XAMPP, and create a database user and password by clicking the "my.ini" tab
5) Edit the config.php.new in /includes/ in the vB directory on your localhost, and rename it config.php
6) Goto http://localhost/VB_URL/install/install.php

Hope I helped.

XAAMP rocks, don't get me wrong (I use it on localhost), but if it's for a professional site (ie. not just someone running vB on their home computer for the hell of it), he probably should install each package seperately... Will be less confusing in the long run.
