With dark nights drawing in earlier and Habboween coming to an end, we Habbos need something new and exciting to do! But fear not, Bonfire Night is just around the corner and it's getting closer and closer even by just reading this week's Funky Friday!
In Habbo, Bonfire night is always a joyous occasion, what with Habbos thinking up exciting new ways to create Firework displays with their pieces of furniture and Bonfire's being lit! But where did it all come from? When did it all start? Bonfire night, also known as 'Guy Fawkes night' started after Guy Fawkes was found to be part of a conspiracy to kill the King of England! Although the night is named after him he didn't work alone, because along with him was a small group. To carry out their plan, these conspirators got hold of 36 barrels of gunpowder - and stored them in a cellar, just underneath the House of Lords which still stands today as part of the Houses of Parliament. But as the group worked on the plot, it became clear that innocent people would be hurt in the attack, including some people who even fought for more rights. Some of the plotters started having second thoughts. One of the group members even sent a letter to his friend, Lord Molteagle, to stay away from the Parliament on the 5th November and to warn him of the plan! But fear not Habbos, the letter was forwarded to the King who made plans to stop the conspirators. And they were successful!
http://images.habbohotel.co.uk/c_images/stickers/fwrk_pink.gif Every year on the 5th November, we celebrate the capture of Guy Fawkes by lighting fires (known as Bonfires) and setting off explosions of colour! (Fireworks!) And in Habbo Hotel it's no different! Because we're so creative, we tend to use our Dragons to make groups of fire to set a bonfire and invite our friends over to our guest rooms to gaze in awe at the sight and the fireworks being exploded into the darkness! It is a joyous occasion indeed!
But remember, it's important that you stay safe on Bonfire night, as it can be dangerous! Here's some safety rules to stick to:
Keep authorities informed of your plans if you're not going to an arranged display.
Never use flammable liquids like paraffin or petrol to start your bonfire.
Check immediately before lighting that there is no animal or child inside.
Never put fireworks on a bonfire, even if they're a dud.
Don't burn dangerous rubbish (Aerosols, paint tins etc)
Remove any rubbish from your bonfire area in advance.
http://images.habbohotel.co.uk/c_images/stickers/newyear_sparkler.gifMake sure all fireworks are aimed away from spectators.
Always put used Sparklers in a bucket of water! Never touch them.
When handling Sparklers, ensure that you are well-clothed and wear Gloves.
Ensure that all Sparklers are kept away from faces or bodies of spectators. And most importantly, have fun! It's always important to stick to these safety rules so you can stay safe, just like you'd want to in Habbo Hotel! So go ahead, what are you waiting for? Go out there and create the bonfire displays in your guest rooms for all Habbos to gaze in awe at and enjoy. But not before you enter this week's sparkling Funky Friday.
To help you make your display that extra bit special, we are giving you the chance to win your prize that will definitely make your room the hottest! In more than one way! Habbos will be rushing from all corners of the hotel to come to your display and to view your creativity using these fantastic pieces of furniture! We here at the Funky Friday Headquarters love a bit of Bonfire celebration!
