Straight hear with the 'emo' fringe.
Also skinny jeans with big trainers. A T-Shirt, sometimes a shirt and a hoody.

Indie means independent. you wouldn't really wear what everyone else wears - that wouldn't be independent..

Yeah but things never quite work like that Sam, indie kids in my experience are about as independant as anyone else.

here's a nice video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kAO4EVMlpwM) that explains it :]

although these are hipsters [the grouchy cousin of the indie kid] the style is pretty much the same.

to all the people going "lol at the thread" the indie scene has a type of fashion look now so its not all that daft of a thread, id bet that the people objecting to this are the ones who match the indie description.

If you want to be an "indie kid", all you have to do is conform to non-conformism.

Indie music is meant to be signed to independant record labels... but no... most of your "indie" bands are signed to majors. Lol.

Yawn @ indie... just find what you enjoy listening to and what clothes suit you and go with it.

Indie/Emo/Rock are all both music and fashion, so to the people who are laughing you need to think about it for a minute.

no because emo and indie have turned into stereotypes and styles. just because they begun as music genres, which they still are, doesn't mean they can't be adapted to other things.

indie is short for individual, name kinda gives it away what it means
emo stands for emotional or some other crap like that.

i think that's what undertaker was saying, actually. his point is the same as yours

indie means independent. however, that doesnt mean the style is transfered from the idea of music. the music scene just sparked fashion. but there are many different indie styles, just like there's many different indie sounds. i consider myself an indie kid mostly, but it really depends.

Lol this thread is stupid, you don't buy clothes that other people like, that's just trying to fit in. If you like Indie, like Indie, doesn't mean you have to wear a certain style of clothing. I like metal but I don't wear band shirts or have really long hair.

RedStratocas

what's wrong with that?

At the end of the day, if he wants to dress like that, then he can. It's his decision, and who are we to sit here and completely insult that because we've probably all been there before.

I know they have turned into styles, that is what music is about, the music and the fashion it's a fact. :) Same with Emo, most emo's now aren't cutting themselves, it's now a style.

Most kids who like certain music will like the clothes aswell though, they are not harming anyone and to be honest i'd rather people walking around in different clothes such as Emo, Indie and rock rather than Track suits.

omg... kids...

indie is short for INDIVIDUAL

it means wear what you want... holy jesus...

There's nothing wrong with fitting in naturally, I just hate when people dress a certain way to try to fit in with a certain crowd.

Probably the best post I have ever seen on here (other than some of my own perhaps :8). People always say "be yourself", but if a person is asking how to conform to a certain fashion or way of thinking, their "self" is clearly just that type who will do such a thing.

yeah, and then people say "stop making fun of me for how a dress! i'm being myself by dressing like this!". but then you can say "i'm being myself by making fun of you for dressing like that."

Actually speaking of retro, a lot of 'indie' kids from around my area wear a lot of adidas Orginals stuff.

I'm not too indie myself but I have an Originals zip-up hoodie and it looks really good.
