Cleans it all out... Lol

I don't know the chemistry of it but it somehow cleans it al out so reduces risk of infection and it therefore heals quicker.

Although it stings to begin with it'll soon die down! ;P

Did you put pure salt on your knee?? Most sites say not to put salt directly on wounds.

If you put saline solution (salt water) from a shop or hospital then it should be fine because less than 1% of it is salt. I use it to rinse my contact lenses and to put drops in my eye if they get dry near the end of the day.

Don't put pure salt on, just put salt into some tapwater and stir, then put the solution on your wound

Use fresh water is poss. (Bottled or whatever)

Sometimes tap water can have some nasty bacteria in that could make it worse!

Not in the UK, US or Australia lol :S That's a load of nonsense. There's no bacteria that can cause you any harm.

Isn't

Sodium Chloride a Alakali not an Acid ..

and Water can have bacteria in it, broken pipes, leaking pipes, mould on the connecters in your house, cracked pipes, problems at the treatment plant,

All sorts of problems why people still filter there water at this end of the pipeline

Putting salt on will make the skin harder and tougher when it heals.
