Hey Guys,
I've had this Sam 2 problem a while and I only had to uninstall because of yet another problem. First, I wanna sort this MySql one out and then I'll move onto the first problem. So... I try to install, but I get this:

> License accepted.
> Install path: C:\Program Files\SpacialAudio\SAM2\1\
> MySQL detected. Installed at C:\mysql\
> MySQL already configured to start as a service/startup item
> Windows Media support already installed.
> Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (10061)

Thanks,
Anyone help?

your config might be wrong..

Make sure your MySQL has been installed and started. If it is, then theres a problem with your host files. In the MySQL config, change the IP from localhost to 127.0.0.1

To start MySQL, this should work (if it doesn't then you gotta go to the computers services file and do a load of complicated stuff, which I can tell you at last resort...):

Control + Alt + Delete (Task Manager) > Proccesses Tab > File > New Task (Run...) > Type: mysqld-nt.exe > OK.

That should start it...

Hope I've helped, if I have, rep is loved.

Starting MySQL can also be done:

Start > Run... > cmd > net start mysql

It says it can't connect, so check any firewalls arnt preventing it from connecting, if you can't tell, try disabling them. Although remember to enable them again later :)

if it didn't work when installing sam then it isn't a problem with your hosts. try installing with the other one, firebird or something?

also, mysql may be blocked by your firewall or the computer administrator.

It's not blocked by my firewall.
With SAM 2 you can't change to firebird or w/e, it's only MySQL.
Anywho, I cant seem to do it so I have Sam 3 which is crap and I hate it but meh, i'll live.

I use SAM4 and had a similar problem when i attempted to install it. Even if you've installed mysql you have to set it up to run on your pc as a database (not EXACTLY the way it works but just think that). So if mysql is installed try and run it through and choose the username and password etc. for it. Once that's done try and run the setup file for SAM. It may not work straight away but if you get a different error to the one you've been seeing then you've done something at least.

I rectified this error as soon as SAM said it couldn't connect and took me to a window in the setup to put in the password and username i used for mysql and voila, it worked. I'm sure it can't be different in the way it sets up. I find SAM4 easiest to use in my opinion. It's easy to get rid of the echo of hearing your own voice as you speak, once you know what you're doing.

Yea you're right in that respect BUT it's very easy to get rid of. So if you're getting SAM2 purely for that reason then just get SAM4. It's a simple setting than can be turned off and amazingly turned on in SAM2. It was just forced on by DEFAULT from SAM3.

I remember having the option of installing with firebird on Sam 2. I use Sam 2. Don't know why you aren't getting an option for firebird when installing.
