Hey guys,
Usually I tend to help out in these forums,
but i've found this increasingly annoying.

I'm looking for solutions of greasy, oily skin.
It's what's causing my spots, I assume.
And I also assume, if i dry my skin out, my spots should start to clear up?

I hate my greasy skin!
I hate my spots!

Can you reccommend anything for either?

Before you ask/suggest:
I wash my face daily with normal soap.
I would prefer solutions that you have already tried on yourself, or know somebody who has, then i know the likelyness of it working

+rep to the best solutions (not all)
Thanks!

the oxy spot range is usually quite good, and you should use any facewash, it's better than normal soap.

also try getting some face wipes n stuff, not like make-up remover ones, ones that open your pores and clean them :]

regular soap tends to be harsh on the skin. go to boots and get a cleanser, exfoliator and moisturiser.

I used facial pads that cleared my skin and pores, but I had to stop using them because I'm allergic to a certain chemical used (this is the same with sensatives ones also), but now I use medication to get rid of spots, but it also helps my skin in ways I'm not sure how :P

Don't use ANYTHING you find on the shelves at place like Boots and so on. I went to the Doctor and she gave me some special cream called Fluidin or something like that. It basically makes spots soft and they soon disappear. My Doctor said that most products out there are only tested on replications of the situation. So they would almost make a 'fake' spot if you will, to see if it works. Won't actually test it on the every day average human or even the ones with slightly soft skin or rougher skin.

I was going through this lol.
Dont use Oxy, It brings them out more.
Or Clearasil.

If you have a fringe or longish hair, That is why.
I shaved my hair, And it stoped spots on my forehead.

The greasy skin is, sweat and heat mixing.
You should just wash your face once you go to bed and in the morning.
First with Hot water, then with cold.

So you close your pores.

Then, After you have eaten do not touch your face.
The germs will get on your skin.
If you are cold, Your pores will be open.
And you will get spots :)

Eat less sugar, processed carbs and dairy food. Sugar and processed carbs increase the amount of insulin which causes more androgens which causes an overproduction of sebum oil. Dairy food does the same but it's because of the hormones they put in milk.

Try clearisil like the other person said. Works good.

I cleanse, and then use a solution containing 2.5% of Benzac. Works brilliantly :)

I use this nivea for men face wash, then after that i use this like skin conditioner thing and it smells well lush, use cold water to close the pours, also if it gets greasy really fast, then use a cotton pad to whipe off the excess grease and then wash your face. Always wash with a face wash, not soap (as soap is just animal fat and chemicals basically) because it will make your skin more greasy.

I heard clearasil is bad, but the new like gone in 3 days thing is good apparently.

Good luck :D

So many replies, in so little times!
Thanks to everyone!

Some people say use clearsil;
some people say don't.

And do the one post that mentioned it;
I do have a fringe- but that's not going to change any time soon!

The easiest, cheapest and simplest thing to do seems to be,
wash using a face wash in hot water, then wash with cold water.

Also, do the one post who mentioned using a cotton pad; I did think of this, but i wasn't sure whether i'd be removing the grease, or spreading it along with germs from my spots.

But still, any more additions with help are appreciated!
the best have been rep'd ;]

You can use these clear skin whipes which can be bought from any chemist/boots. They open your pores and clear the greasy stuff from them and if you have spots, dires them up so they can be squeezed easier :P It works cause well I have perfect skin and USE THEM!

Buy something by a popular brand for spot removal, like clearasil. And, use the face wash and then use an afterwashy type thing to clean it after. I did that and they did start to clear up.

I found the clearasil made mine worst. Depends on your skin type.

I'd stop using soap if I was you. Just plain water does the trick.

For the spots... Before you go to bed put toothpaste on them - It dries them up and kills them offf.

Alternatively buy this from the body shop it works for oily and spotty skin

Seriously, its EXCELLENT. I'dm give it 1 million out of 10

Forget about all those brands like clearasil ect. I use a great homemade serum, Mix a table spoon of Honey, teaspoon of sugar, a teaspoon of lemon juice. Mix it together, apply to the face as a paste, wait 15 minutes, use a warm damp flanel and rub it gently of the face :).
this will smoothen skin, soften skin and help remove spots, freckles, beauty marks and bags under the eyes :)

Tbh, I'd be too scared to make my own stuff. I'd rather use like.. recommended stuff like Clearasil or Witch or something. LOL!

But I dont have a problem with my skin right now!
Thank god.

Some people say use clearsil;
some people say don't.

Do they give any reason for not using it? The main problem with it is the fact that it dries out your skin, but that's exactly what you need. You can get stuff for sensitive skin too. Go for that imo.

i have greasy, oily skin too.

most of the products i've used works for a while, but is not effective after some time.

i went to the doctors a few weeks back, and they gave me some pills that will help dry up and clear acne, and also a type of liquid in a bottle to apply on my face. you should really go to the doctors to check if your acne problem is mild, moderate or really bad. from there, they will give you the right medication.

here is what the doctor told me: -
- avoid oily food and drink plenty of water
- cleanse your face twice or thrice daily (i use men's biore, a japanese brand, which i'm not sure exists in the uk)
- avoid keeping a fringe as it causes acne on forehead (but as you've said, you don't have a fringe [:)

and yeah, some other things i don't remember, lol.

good luck though!

I had really greasy spotty skin and I tried loads of different products including clearasil but I found that when I forgot to use them for a week or so then my skin suddenly become much better so now I don't use anything on my skin except washing with normal water twice a day and I have no spots or greasy skin, except for occassinally and then I find that powder hides shininess quite well if you're a girl. So yeah to keep my skin nice I wash with warm water then straight after with cold water and I find that works quite well. I also try and get fresh air every day becasue I fins that helps my skin, so if you awanted to risk it you could try not using anything for a couple of weeks. And definetely don't use soap, thats about the worst thing you can use on your face. lol

Clearisil works jack.

All the products available ver the counter only work for some people, they don't work for most, sure they help, but not much.

Keep your washing to a normal rate, don't over wash or scrub hard, this irritates skin and could cause spots to inflame.

Also, you can try your GP, i went to mine and he prescribed me tablets, if they don';t work, whic they are doing, i'll go to the next level.

Thanks for such great feedback, guys!

The only thing I don't want to do, is fork out loads of money for a branded product; just do realise it's made it worse.

Somebody said before that I don't have a fringe...
I do x]!

But it's not just my forehead that is greasy; it's pretty much my whole face.

And; i've discontinued use of soap.
And I now use my "Umbo Daily Face Wash" with warm water.
Then, I wash my face with simple, cold water, as advised by you guys!

It does seem to be helping!

But; I really want to dry out my skin for a while, until my spots go really.
Would I right to think that if I have dry skin; my spots will reduce?

So... does anybody have any skin drying techniques?

Oh, and i've heard mixed views on using talcum powder on your face.
View one: talcum powder absorbs moisture; and so will reduce a greasy face
View two: talcum powder clogs your pores, and will make your face worse

Any more ideas?

A few drying recipes:

The one I mentioned earlier:
Honey
Sugar
Lemon Juise
2nd one:
Salt
Aqueus cream
lemon juice
3rd one:
lemon juice
salt
honey
4th one:
honey
aqueus cream
lemon.

Apply the pastes to your face (choose 1) very gently, they may seem gritty but dont worry, apply genorusly, leave for 15 minutes and then use a warm damp flannel and slowly rub the face in circles wiping it off, do it every day for 1-2 weeks to solve your skin problems :)

This also saves money because you arent buying expensive brands.

Its hard to say what to use because everyone's skin is different,,but I have found that drinking lots of water can help and Clearsil Ultra is really good. You can always go to the doctors about the spots if they are that bad,,but it's hard to do anything about greasy skin,,
Buuut on the bright side,,people with greasy skin in young age,,tend to have better skin when they are older

Dont know if its particually true or not,, but sshhh lool =D =D
