Soviet Union collapsed in 1991 just to let you know. Anyway why the hell would Russia say this? Number one Russia is a country so if one person there thinks the world will end does that mean all of Russia agree? no it doesn't. Secondly Russia would not just start a Nuclear War with America because they'd need a madman in power first to do that. America has tens of thousands of Nuclear Weapons and so does Russia if they went to war it would mean MAD would occur.

Nope, before the sun goes supernova, it's gravitational field will decrease, sending Earth into a further orbit, and therefore just being missed by the sun's range when it goes supernova.

The Earth however will be close enough for all our seas to evaporate and all life to die, but the planet itself won't be destroyed :)

Life on earth will probably end in around 3 billion years when the Andromeda Galaxy (traveling at 87 miles a second!) will collide with the Milky Way perhaps causing all the planets to be knocked out of orbit hence ending life, the planet will still survive but not life.
