The Appocolypse and the Human Race

Right,

I was looking through some other forums on the net and found these threads which made quite a debate so ill make one. how to you think the appocolypse will happen and what do you think humans will do?

I personally think we will consume all of our rescources which will lead to a war for the last recources which would drive us to extinction

Or nuclear war.

Or not becomming extint at all and either evolving or just planet hoping

I don't think we will ever run out of resources, as there are so many of them. At the most men will be forced to adjust their style of living, and live in a more primitve way.
I do think that in the (far) future intelligent computers (robots) will take over from mankind though. That might lead to our extinction, but I am not too worried about it :P

Computers can never take over as they can't think for themselves, they can't think 'hey let's take over the human race' because they are just memory sticks.

Personally I think we'll either just all leave the planet because new ones will be discovered or well I dunno. There are so many things they THINK could happen.

There are lots of ways human life will die, as well as plenty of other creatures. Judging by how people generally act, I think people will realise when it's too late. I just think if we were created by some otherly being, then it's irony that a species which calls itself wise will bring about its own end.

I thought computers could learn. It depends what you call thinking. Because computers can analyse a situation and process an answer. And I've heard of robots that can walk across a room and when they hit the wall, they have recorded how many steps it took. This means next time they won't make the same mistakes.

May seem a bit Sci-Fi and a long shot, but what if the robot malfunctioned? If it analysed us humans and deemed us as "obselete"? If this was to happen this would obviously happen way off in the future. How would you limit what a robot learns?

the robot would have to be programmed to do such a thing. take for example a scarecrow robot. it would scan for birds and shoot them if that malfunctioned then it could mistake birds for humans and them kill humans but my point is the robot would have to be programmed in a way to kill things if it were ever going to kill people

Completely different. I'm talking about a robot that analyses. A scarecrow robot would look for something the right size and body heat and shoot it. I'm talking about a robot so advanced it scans it's surroundings and learns from it. It can process tactics and statistics. Computers work on logic. Thus, if they found something to be in efficient they would change it.
