Well not wishing to spoil the fun but are they all 'listeners' as I thought
that every time someone clicked on the Habbox.com page they count as a listener so the figures aren't really a true reflection of the popularity of the radio? Same with google bots on the forum and the huge amount of guests? I maybe wrong in this. Quite honestly Habbox would still be the most popular site at the moment without this perceived massaging of the figures.

Yes they are listeners because they are listening to the radio. If you stop the radio, you are no longer a listener :). The same with any website really.

Admittedly we do get "listeners" who have Habbox muted however the purpose of the radio being on Habbox.com is so that it gets noticed and over the time it has been on Habbox.com the radio has become increasingly popular. I know that because I've been at HxL for just about a year now and the transformation is amazing.
Habbox.com wasn't working earlier and we had over 100 listeners even after we had to restart the whole radio server. So we don't have "hardly any listeners". I think lately HxL itself has become so much more popular and hopefully will continue doing so.

Nobody is saying that you are not doing an amazing job. You are! The problem is that people will not appreciate how hard you are working if the 'bot listeners' for want of a better word make up quite a lot of the numbers. To me it means that any credibility that the radio has is lost and all your efforts and those of the team go unoticed which is a shame. I hope you can see where I am coming from here. :)

Habboxlive is the radio for Habbox so it has a right to be on the Habbox.com homepage, I'm not too sure why a separate site was create for the radio but the radio has just been put back to its right place, the homepage of Habbox.com.
For all we know all the listeners of Clubhabbo could only be on the site to check the guides or look for competitions on their homepage and may not be listening to the radio.
The funny thing is most people only use the argument of all the listeners are from habbox.com well the radio has allrights to be onit.
Habbox Live is becoming increasingly popular. However, it is ture that there are quite a bit of people just come to Habbox for the rare values. But the great majority of people actually tune into the radio. I would also love to compliment ,Jess, on the wonderfull job she has done as radio manager so far.

HxL is really on the up as far as I can see. It has gone from 150 ish listeners a few months ago to hitting around 350 over the last week and currently at 298 listeners with Sammeth.
If the radio had just been put on habbox I could understand people saying most the listeners are just from the site but since the radio has become much more active there has been a massive listener increase.
Well done everybody at HxL

I agree with Catzsy, i visit habbox.com but with my sound on mute, as always. So im not actually listening to the Radio it plays as i forget to click stop as i dont hear anything, therefor its a false number when im on the website as i dont interactive or even listen.

The stats are counted by people who actually connect to the radio. Not the site.
If I visited the site without any capable media player, it would not count me as a listener.
Same with the googlebot, it nor any other bot does not connect to the radio, only archiving the site.

True but how many people don't have a capable media player. Anyway as I said HabboxLive is popular enough without having to make it seem even more so and that includes the forum as well. I think it gives it less kudos when the hits and bots are included. I am not attacking either just the 'tricks' to up the figures which aren't needed. The forum right now has 21 members and 59 guests which is a bit silly. Just my opinion. Thanks :)

What are you talking about :S? I am slightly confused. All forums will have bots once they are indexed on search engines. If you search for Habbox forum on google/msn/yahoo etc, you will find results because we are indexed on there. Bots are good. Very good.
Bots don't connect to the radio so I am not sure what the problem is there.

That most users who go on Habbox.com go on for values not for the radio i know theres a way to stop it but still you shoulnt have to realy.

I think what she is trying to say that there are some instances where people boast about the amount of guests Habbox have on at any one time, when in truth they are, in majority, search engine spiders. That is not to say anyone is blaming you or Habbox in anyway as essentially they are beyond your control and it would be undesirable to stop them.
As for the radio everyone has valid points, I am guessing if Habbox were to revert back to having the radio just on the HxL website listeners would drop considerably however I don't really see why people are saying that it is a bad thing that Habbox have the radio on automatic play on the main site - name me a popular Habbo site that doesn't? They virtually all do! There is nothing wrong with what Habbox are doing; I am sure everyone will admit that the fact it is on the main site means a massive listener increase, but hell, why else would they put it on the main site?!
Sorry that's a bit rantish, it might not make full sense :P
When I was a DJ on HxL, I saw the official shoutcast stats. Obviously we will have people who go on and off Habbox for the rares values and there are quite a bit of people. The listeners are now constant and even before when the radio was posted on Habbox it only got 120 listeners. But now it often gets over 300 on peak time (most of these listeners are unique), this shows great improvment of the popularity of both Habbox and in particular Habbox Live.

Because theres a page on shoutcast where the DJs can view how many are unique. Plus you can also view how many listeners are unique in sams 2 and possibly the other dj programs the djs use.
Like I said, only humans can tune in and if a few users do open multiple radio tabs, they will very unlikely open up 100 of them lol.
It's best to just accept the fact the number of listeners is the real number of listeners and not be so picky over it ;).

DNAS:
Stream is up at 32 kbps with 95 of 400 listeners (93 unique)
Habbox.com:

So that means 1 person has a multiple tab open ;) I don't see how that could be rigged?

Aaaah! But everybody who clicks on Habbox.com activates this surely whether they have their speakers on or not and it could only be for a minute to check the rare values which you could do 3 times in 5 minutes. I am not saying I am right in this but is that not true?
Dentafrice,

Anyone who goes to Habbox.com (who doesn't have the radio deactivated.. which you can do in 30 day time slots) will see the radio, its set to autostart yes.. but for the listener to actually be counted as unique I believe it has to be connected for x time.

Basically anyone can view these stats, not only the DJs.
Just click the link below;
Habbox Live Stats (http://shoutcast1.tidyhosts.com:9028/index.html)
It shows the unique listeners. Im also sure by the fact that the amount of hits on Habbox Live has also gone up rapidly in the past few months.
Also if listeners just went into Habbox to check out the rare values quickly, then there wouldn't be stability in the listeners- the amount would jump a lot. But that isn't the case at all.
