halp wit homework plz

ok, i have a test tomorrow on this stuff. im currently in algebra I. ok so the problem is.. i want to learn how to find out if a y intercept form(ex: y=6x+7) that is given is parallel or perpendicular.. is it if its parallel the slopes are the same? and perpendicular the slopes are opposites of eachother? :D
