I was messin about on my new photoshop, so I made this REALLLLLY rubbish layout. HOPEFULLY I'll improve!!

It is abit rushed, but thats not the reason for it being rubbish.

Ok but on a serious note, its not very good even for a first but I do have some constructive advice:

1) Ditch the pearly green style in the bubbley? style things its just too heavy.
2) Your navigation again also suffers from using too heavy gradients. Think subtle (Say from a pale green to a little darker green) ;)
3) Try a different font. Verdana or myriad pro are always good places to start.
