Maybe...

Source (http://kotaku.com/gaming/rumor/treyarch-taking-call-of-duty-back-to-wwii-331645.php)

The gang at UK pub Gamer picked up on a job listing from Call of Duty 3 developer Treyarch that might point to the series returning to its World War II roots. The posting at Activision's career opportunities page is looking for a level builder to work on an "industry leading First-Person Shooter action war franchise" with serious experience. Later in the job description, Treyarch writes "if you're a fan of World War 2 shooters, then even better!" Quite the leap, no? While we're positive that Call of Duty 5 is coming (http://kotaku.com/gaming/omg-sequels/merger-fact-sheet-reveals-guitar-hero-iv-call-of-duty-5-329114.php), we aren't sure whether Infinity Ward or Treyarch or another developer altogether will be holding the reins.

He's right. cod5 will not be made by infinity ward,

this is due to that infinity ward are making a game once every 2 years,

so it will be up to treyarch to do the tranission inbetween those 2 years i heard,

Yup. Activision (publisher) said that ''WE NEED A COD EVERY YEAR LOLOLOL." so Treyarch said
"OH HAY GUISE, Y DID U LET THAM MAEK COD4. WE CUDVE MADE DAT LOLOLOL."
"U KAN MAEK COD 5 IF U WANT LOL"
"LOLK"

Something like that

Me neither. Its annoying theres already ww2 cods so why make another... ALl it will have is a different storyline, but I wouldn't mind another cod4 style one.

If it was something like Vietnam or Battle Of Trafalger or something then it'd be a definate buy for me.

Until then I'll be seeing if it's released near my birthday, or I might have a spare £40.

Whats wrong with you lot? WWII shooters are excellent. I know they've been done loads of times, but just look at the soon to be released Brothers in Arms: Hells Highway, it looks immense.

I personally prefer past war games to modern, the history behind them fascinates me a hell of alot more the modern wars.

I also agree that a 'Nam war game would be awesome.

It's because almost anyone under 15 now thinks WWII was crap because the guns were not good enough, COD2 = One of the best games I've ever played
same with Finest Hour and COD on the PC, WWI and WWII were some of the greatest wars ever and you should be glad they're made into games, modern warfare isn't always the best type of warfare

World war series are great tho,

people say ww2 is crap storyline.

its a good 1 to do,

With modern warfare its quite tough NOT to get into a pollitical battle about it,

maybe tho they should do a ww1 thing with trenches and lil bit more strategic =]

I know war is normally go in and blast the BEEP out of them but i think it should be strategic,

If cod5 was ww1 it should have the Somme =]

War is always about strategy.. you don't just run in there with outdated weapons, you first get some intel, then plan out your attacks, targets, drop points, before you ever go in.

Sure, some things may require planning on the spot.. but yet there is more to war then just going in and boom boom.

I know WWII games are brilliant and so are modern ones, but Infinity Ward just revamped the series and now someone wants to take it back. I'll try and play the past CoDs while waiting for this one.

P.S Infinity Ward recently held a press conference saying that they may be doing something else while making CoD6

That would stink
COD is amazing because not all of the games let you run around in tanks/jeeps and stuff to kill people, in the future with insanely powerful weapons would stink, especially if you get mechs and flying vehicles and whatever other cheesy junk they throw out

reindeer.

cod3 was **** and so 5 will be too if treyarch makes it.

I'm not gonna say CoD5 will be crap because it might not be, you can't really say it will be just because Treyarch are making it, they make Big red one and that wasn't too bad

I'd prefer a game based on the current wars such as in the middle-east.

Yeah I agree. Theres a chance you won't get shot if you try do it pro style and hide round all corners and looking in all spots for enemies.

Too right. WWII are fun. I loved the MoH series, the storyline was always awful - blow this bridge up, escort this spy who has some stuff we need - but the online play was so much fun.

If they ever did bring a Vietnamese jungle-warfare type game, I hope they don't re-invent Vietcong. I played that a couple of times and it was terrible. Something with a Gears of War engine, enabling you to lean/crouch against the scenery would be decent for that kind of area I think.

I haven't had chance to play COD4 yet, so I can't comment in comparison to the WWII themes, but I really enjoyed the older games. :)
