Yep, they're making a live action Dragonball movie based on the anime. ;)

Plot: A young boy named Goku seeks out upon his grandfather's dying request to find the great Master Roshi and gather all seven Dragon Balls (of which he has one) in order to prevent Piccolo from succeeding in his desire to use the Dragon Balls to take over the world.

Justin Chatwin (http://www.comicbookmedia.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/05/43623_cv.jpg) (War of the Worlds) has been cast as Goku and James Masters (http://www.spongeandcustard.org.uk/autographs/Spikeautosmall.jpg) (Buffy) has been cast as Piccolo.
It's going to be directed by James Wong, the same person who wrote, produced and directed Final Destination 3.

They've begun filming and it will be released worldwide on 15th August 2008.

Nah, as far as I know he's going to be the only one to play Goku.

I'm not too keen on the actor that plays Goku but I guess it's a hard role to choose a decent actor for, I hope he's like, completely ripped or we wont be seeing many "t-shirt exploding from the body" scenes or it wont look right xD

IF you want to see a real life kamehameha then just search it on youtube :p Several people have tried and it just looks dodgy :(

i LOVED dragonball Z. it was amazing when i watched it.

it dragged on with the spirit ball and him going into that training space thing

It seems they've started to add characters that were not in the anime. Who the hell is Teto? They've also said that Goku will be going to highschool (yeah Goku goes to school, when did that happen in the anime?) and that the storyline is open for a lot of changes. I realise why people say it's going to suck now.

Knowing of its fanbase, the film will be big success like the Final Fantasy film some years back, but just like that film, I can't see Dragonball Z being anything above a generally bad film. Obviously, it needs its chance, but no doubt it's a cash-in project that will be rushed, and with a director whose main credential is the lackluster Final Destination 3, it doesn't have the best forseeable future. I am disappointed that Chow Yun-Fat has been casted, his cheque has stooped him too low. Ernie Hudson... you know its going to be bad whenever a modern day film casts Mr. Ghostbuster.

I have mixed opinions. I believe as an adaption this movie will suck, but if you try not to think that it's trying to be Dragonball, it will be alright. Although the reality is, it is trying to be Dragonball. So it will suck.

Yeah, so that means they changed the characters age, not the story. This IS Dragonball. NOT Z! Read the plot. It's based off the King Piccolo saga in the Dragonball anime/manga.

Same events, just Goku is not a kid in the movie as he was in the anime. Two sequels have been confirmed.

Aparrently he's not green due to lack of sunlight and he will be green once he is seperated from his 'evil' side. :S Although Piccolo does get seperated in the anime, this movie sure likes making things up. :P
