Immigrants

I'm sure everyone has noticed the increase of Immigrants entering the UK, Most of them I am OK with but a small minority really annoy me.
I think that if accepted into the UK they must take part in a course to teach them English if their tutor confirms that the person is making an effort and has improved over a set period of time then they should be able to continue to stay in this country.
The people who annoy me are the Immigrants who don't bother to learn English if they are going to enter our economy they should at the very least learn our native language, if they can't be bothered to that we shouldn't be bothered to allow them to stay here.

Britain is a cake.

At first, it was white as it was just cake mixture.
Then it went into the oven and became a light brown as it cooked.
Then it got a little darker, nearly cooked.
Then it was cooked perfectly, nicely brown.
Then it was slightly overcooked becoming a very dark brown.
Now, it's becoming a completely burnt cake.

I do agree it is annoying when they do not understand our language, its difficult to communicate with them. I agree they should take an English course before comming over here.

Recently on the news I heard that many schools have been told to stop teaching the children about Mary and Joseph due to all these diffrent relegions in the country now - Many people do not agree to this and beleive because they come to our country they should respect our relegion/culture as we do when we go to their country. I agree that muslims or any other diffrent kind of relegion should respect our british culture/relegions as we do in their country.

I'm alright with people of every race but the think that ticks me off is like certain people in my class ( a few years ago ) were new to the school , they didn't know any English at all and it was very hard for everyone to communicate with them and they used to get extra treatment from teachers and have their own private assistant who speaked their language , I wonder how much that cost the school , I think if people are coming into the country they must know English (even if it is just the basics) so they do not disrupt the other schools , Also I kinda think it's kinda pointless letting in people who are 'under archivers' as they are not likely to help the country.

But this is not the case with every immigrant , Like this boy who's from India is really clever and speaks fluent English and he's probably smarter than the teachers in the school.

Yeah I think people who can speak at least the basics should be fine, But people who make no effort to learn english or even get a job don't deserve to be here.

i don't actually care that much - but they must learn english, in nottingham at least there are places in car parks with instructions in godknows what languages and natwest has polish written in some things. it annoys me at school sometimes cause there are a few (only a few) people that speak to each other in other languages, which i find quite rude. they can speak english perfectly fine.

I have mixed feelings about immigrants, i can stand some, the ones who work, earn themselves money and try hard, making a difference to the community. It's the ones who come in claiming their home is ruined and they might die, recieve free housing and furniture and then to add to insult, live off benefits, when theres plenty of homeless people here already that don't get much help at all.

I also agree that anybody coming into the UK should deffinately speak English, and some of the muslims should try to fit in more. What i mean by this is scrapping the ninja style face gear..

I reccomend that you look up the definition of immigrant.

I do however see where you are coming from, t is probably true than alot of us have ancestors who didn't originate from the UK, but the same goes for every country, especaiiyl the USA and Australia, who's citizens pretty much all decend from English people. So according to you, 99% of these countries are immigrants? I think not.

Once your born in a country, and your parents were also, aswell as your grandparents, our as english as you'll ever be.

I agree. If we were to go to their country, we would have to learn their language, they should do the same for us. I don't live in the UK, but I am speaking in general. A person should know and understand the native language before being allowed to live in the country.

Also, about the religion thing. I think every country should support every religion, but if you're coming to a country, every country has it's religion or culture, every person that lives in that country should respect it. If I was to go to Iraq, I would have to follow their customs and accept their religious beliefs and their culture. I wouldn't come to the country and try to change it. You decided to come to the country, so deal with our beliefs, etc.

I agree, in a way. If you're going to come to the country, at least know the language. It's easier for everyone in the country if everyone knew and understood one language, which in the UK is English. I understand this whole ESL thing in schools, it's good for those who come here from different countries to learn English or something, but for those who come here to live, they should know it, at least so it is understandable and they are able to speak it.

They themselves were born here, and quite a few generations of their family have also been born here. The colour of ones skin should not affect how ones nationality is viewed. They have ancestors from other countries, like pretty much everyone, so why shouldn't they be considerend 100% english. Even if they are not, they most certainly are not 100% ''non english'' as you put it.

This is true, immigrants do tend to take up low paid jobs which require little skill, but what about the unemployed people who already live in Britai? surely they should be given the option of work first?

I don't agree to this because some british citizens may not be able to make it into a well paid job (due to reasons) there for will need to start in a low paid tough job to make it to a better well paid job later in their future.

A lot of companies hire immigrants as they are 'cheap labour' which make it difficult to find a good well paid job. I also know a lot of higher companies like to hire polish people as they pretty much work 10 hours or more - even if these people do not speak english very well.

Our money is worth a lot if you take it to other countries. For example if you change £100 into Canadian dollers it will be about $200, so many immigrants come over here to earn money so for when they go back to their own country they would be millinaires ;)

There is no difference except for the fact that there is a border in between.
Its immigration that makes societies more diverse and cultural, which really is a good thing.

On a certain degree I do agree that you should know some english if you're moving into an english speaking country, but if you have a translator or something and you're at least TRYING, then it's not a problem at all.

As for immigrants in schools and such, I do think that they deserve a little bit of extra attention. They obviously came to this new country to try and learn and grow up to live a better live but if we just take one kid who can't speak english and throw him/her into an all english speaking school.. then they're screwed.

On a Canadian immigrant form you have to understand the canadian culture AND have good school grades, a decent employment history and being able to at least understand/speak french before going through the immigrant process. Canada are very cautious on who they let live in their country. I don't understand how our immigration system works as it doesnt seem to be the same as Canada immigration :P

well some immigrants are good then again there are the physco ones but u should not stereotype immigrants.
immigrants will always be in the uk and that is never gunna change but maybe there should be some better restrictions on immigrants as the ones who cannot speak english are useless to the economy of england but if they are trying to escape a country full of war and that is unsafe who are we to say no u cant come in here cause you cant speak english. we cannot play god with peoples lives at the end of the day.
