I think members should be allowed to create threads in the debates section but they will be reviewed by someone before they are visible to other members?

Instead of being stuck with threads made by the same few people.

It's a good idea. When you post the thread it starts of invisible but it will become visible when a moderator allows it. That forum has been quiet lately anyway.

Great idea! ;) +rep

It would be nice to see what debates people come up with. :)

I think this is a good idea. It would be nice to see a few more debates open at any one time, perhaps a maximum of 5 at a time or something. This could work though, simply have threads put in the moderation queue and then a (super) moderator or administrator could look over them and decide upon them as you suggested :).

Yeah, I'd agree here. It would be nice to have more debates made, especially if people are going to use them. I'll point J1MI towards this thread when he returns. :)

If you have an idea for a debate theres a debate suggestion thread for you to post it in :). We don't want many debates running at once so people focus on the same debates instead of posting once in each debate and moving on to the next. This way theres a higher chance of people actually debating. A good number of debates at once would be around 4 a month.

I think this is a good idea, as long as the section is not over run with applicant threads it should work out fine.

Although the debates section doesn't seem to be working out with most members just replying with, ''no i don't.''

i do think that section is very underused, it is one of the only forums that produces a good number of constructive arguments and discussion, at least when I read it there are, smits's post obviously condradicts this. It would be a good idea to have more running imo :)

Topics such as "Full time Education until 18? - [Closes 15/01/08] (http://www.habboxforum.com/showthread.php?t=423126)" are not needed, It has been debated for the past few years and actually put in place a few months ago - at least try to get current day affairs in the debates section.
"Did America land on the moon" once again not a current affair, let users submit their own debates and have them confirmed by whoever topics that actually mean something not just a topic to get post count up.
If you have debate topics that are old people latch onto others ideas and use those they read on the internet, If however it is a current issue they will voice their own opinion and actually post a worthwhile post.

Also notice so far everyone apart from you has been for this idea :)

I don't think 4 a month is really enough if you had worthwhile debates about current world issues then I can easily see 6 or 7 working out.

This is a great idea, but I think too much silly debates will be mayed wasting reviewing time.

I think we should put it to the vote. If members want their threads submitted into the debates forum, then they should be allowed to. Heck, we got to vote for an annoying Entertainments catagory, so we should be able to have this "/ Afterall, we make this forum and for some reason Habbox Management have a fear of new ideas they've not come up with.

I think we all need to calm down and take this situation down as gentlemen and disscuss the situation and come up with a sollution what will make everyone happy.

Don't end any debates just let them fade away.

Or do what I do for Habmate, and at the end of debate give a paragraph which sums up what members thought on the given subject and what the majority think. Because most debates just go round in a hauge circle where no more conclusions are given.

I don't even think debate threads should be checked by a moderator before appearing - people should just be able to post debates when they want without having to get it checked.

But yeah, that sounds reasonable.

I think this is a good idea and I agree with a vote to get a better idea on what members really want.

It's better to have more than one debate going on because that means there are some alternative topics members may be interested in. I know some people can come up with some good ideas for debates and sometimes there are topics that might not be as interesting for some people to debate in. Allowing the members of the forum to have more of a say in what thread topics should be created for debating will increase the posting versatility for members.

I like the idea. =]

this is a great idea. i never use the debate forum because most of the topics are ridicously stupid, and do not merit my intelligent thoughts :D
but seriously, i personally think that debate topics should always be relevant to the time, with the topic being about something that has happened in the past week/couple of weeks, instead of the past 50 years like the moon landing.
