I think habbox should introduce something were if people are caught issuing pointless +rep and -rep then they automatically get 50 of there reputation points removed with a formal PM from a manager. I also think that if a admin suspects anybody of issuing pointless -rep the same should happen. I personally think this would stop people issuing pointless reputation around the forum and people who deserve it are the ones who get rep a lot.

I agree 100%. Won't completely stamp it out coz ppl can ask to cover up the reps with comments but yeah, very gd idea. Should start fresh new though so starting from a certain point that happens.

So this way, people wouldn't be losing as much rep, but they'll still be getting punished. I like it. ;) Agree.

I disagree, I say that staff should **** off and stop messing with everybodys rep, pointless or not ;)

I really think they should just leave rep alone, pointless or not, they shouldn't remove it because it may not be clear but they could of deserved it for something they did. I mean, I don't away put a message when I rep someone for helping me, so will that be classed as pointless?
It's not hurting anyone to have a bit of pointless rep anyway, so just leave it be.

I agree, but it won't happen, as many people may know the Habbox Management don't like contacting people for some reason, they only liked to be contacted themselves. If people pointless rep too much, or abuse the system, they should be cautioned/warned and then face a ban.

Yeah it could be like if they issue pointless rep 3 times they get cautioned if they do it again they get a 3 day temp then if they still do it they get a perm ban.

I like this idea, it would do some good to discourage people from giving out pointless reputation. The reputation system has been causing problems here and there for sometime now, it's nice to see someone offering a possible solution :).
i disagree, negative rep yes but positive no. There are many ways around it as some people have said. you can just make some random reason like 'thanks for agreeing' or just cover it up with something to do with the thread.
positive doesnt affect people and if you got it, im sure you dont report it. I dont really see a problem with the current rep system apart from peoples rep dissappearing for no reason, but this seems to have ben cleared up now because of pointless repping...
if you are going to get rep taken off for pointless repping, you should at least get a PM or have had an announcement about it before it happened..

Yeah you get a formal PM from a admin saying you have had 50 reputation points removed for issuing pointless reputation.

yes.
but this would turn into a competition of who could get the most red rep.

they didnt get PM'd and there wasnt an announcement, a bit rubbish really.. :P

so theyre gonna have to ban users because of a new rule which they introduced? theyre just wasting their time which should be spent on proper moderating.

Which is pretty poor lately anyway and it doesn't take alot of effort to ban someone "/ And it's only if the user is starting to become a nuisance. Also, if rep is removed for pointless repping, if the user gets down to 0 rep they shouldn't have anymore removed and if they carry on being stupid, they should be banned. Afterall, part of managing a forum is managing its members...

I think banning somebody off the forum over reputation is quite extreme. Anyway, if any change does happen it would be nice to see an announcement so everyone knows what the rules are rather then just the people who changed it.

if it was my forum id have about 3 mods to check up on thread topics etc. and lets the users do whatever they like.
then only take action if someone makes a complaint.
after all, infracting someone for bullying if the person "bullied" doesn't even think its bullying seems rather silly.

Urrgh, if only management and super mods looked at it like this. Apparently I have bullied members before when they really didn't/do not care yet apparently I hurt the one was infracting's feelings. Habbox really should sort something out with their management skills.

Then again, they could caution them which stops them repping anyone.

I think someone mentioned that already but didn't noticed that being cautioned dis-allows that. Maybe they can make a new user group which completely wipes out the rep function and put people into that group that shouldn't have the priviledge? Although that means effort, which for HxF is something they avoid..

It would save time if you just stop ******* around with rep.

It will, and more. I will stop giving out rep altogether if they bring it in.
joshuar
19-12-2007, 08:50 PM
Why would you stop using Reputation altogether?
It seems that we cannot win with this reputation battle, whatever we do seems to kick off arguments, which doesn't really allow us to do much with it.
GommeInc
19-12-2007, 08:58 PM
Then say tough, push the boat out a little "/ Make these rules, they benefit more people and will stop the major arguments...

Isnt it funny how most of the people saying keep rep as it is are people with high rep power? You should at least be greatful that admins work so god dam hard sorting out rep. Your pretty lucky to have rep on this forum on the other forum i was at rep was disabled. If the managers disabled rep forever I wonder how people with high rep power would react?
GommeInc
19-12-2007, 09:03 PM
Rep plays a big part on Habbox Forum, so disabling it would cause more problems and would make the forum just a little less interesting. The rules you've suggested would work well on the forum, but managers have an issue with a challege or trying something new...

Some people abuse their power to give -reps, even if it only takes half.
Iv been -repped today for no reason by the same person who -reps my .L!nK. account, and he also asked 4 more people to -rep me.
How sad?
Something needs to be done about this also.

I never pointless -rep, I always leave a VALID reason about the post I -repped. ;)

This is a crap idea, the reputation system is a mild form of user-moderation, and seeing as how ANY bad rep can be reported as pointless this would just result in more work for management for no reason - pointless rep isn't often much more than 3 or 4 points as -rep is half the rep power and generally people who just -rep for fun don't have high rep to start.
Entirely unneeded.
