That's cruel, police don't shoot people who run away from home...

well it killed a guy and left 2 others injured i wouldnt like children going to visit that zoo with that tiger in although all tigers are capable if it does this it should still be killed

Lots of people kill and injure other people. As for child safety, I don't see pedos being shot.

I'm pretty sure it was taunted by someone and they opened the gate, A wild cat in captivity all it's life doesn't have to fight for food because it is well fed, and cats born in captivity and kept there do not have the same strength as wild born ones because they are never required to use it, so jumping the fence would be hard for one in captivity and not for wild ones.

Why did they kill it? If it has managed to kill someone, shuve it back into the wild. It will survive "/

Doesn't the zoo have security cameras, or is it a crap zoo?

Why are they suprised it attacked people?

People took it from the wild, and shut it in an enclosure. If that was done to a human being, then whoever did it could be arrested, and the victim would probably turn insane. Shooting it was not fair, we dont shoot humans, even though we were here AFTER animals.

instead of shooting the tiger id shoot the officer shooting at it its a wild animal its natural instinct to capture food

It was a danger to humans, release it back into the wild and it may target humans more and more because it knows it can. I am glad they shot it.

But surely we should imprison it?! Killing it is giving it the easy way out. I mean it should be made to suffer for this crime!!!!!!!!! Killing to feed itself? How neanderthal! What kind of animal kills and eats others?

However an Animal kept in (decent) captivity will be fed every day or in a tiger/lions case every few days - It would not need to attack humans, also the enclosure will never be big enough for the animal compared to how much room they have in the wild, the terrain will not be challenging if you live there for however many years. Animals in captivity can not get anywhere near as strong as wild ones, No way that a captive tiger could jump the moat and climb the fence, if it was born and lived free then yes.
It must have been taunted and released by someone in order to get out, they should have tranquillised it then re homed it at a wild reserve.

What makes you think it was born in the wild rather than born in captivity? It could be that the enclosure is the only home its ever known.

That would cost a lot of money to ship it back to Africa and frankly, the yanks care about their elderly/sick/public services and would rather spend that money on useful things.

The elderly are everywhere they aren't becoming extinct anytime soon.

I would agree with you there, But for an animal which is kept in a zoo where it will encounter hundreds/thousands of people daily and is in close contact with keepers - even if they try not to make the tiger youst to people beaing around it it still will be effected. It must of taken a lot for the tiger to be taunted. The death was a person next to the cage, why didn't they run away when the tiger was escaping/going through the gate?
I believe they we're the ones taunting the tiger.

They have found out after an investigation that a wall in the tiger's enclosure was actually a metre shorter that it should be.

My Chinese mate told me about this, so loads of people know.

Just reading that, if it attacked the zoo keeper or whoever a year ago I think it was the right choice to kill the animal.

In fairness the tiger was mid-way through mauling a pedestrian at the time, shooting it was the only way to save the guys life, so id say they made the right desision. I personally hold human life as the more valuable.

lol it'd be funny if you could get a pet tiger and ride on it and get it to kill people
