Stupid question, but no stupid answers please :P.

Is new years eve a bank holiday?

Somebody asked me today and I was stumped.

new years day is, but these days it's just another day.

Only new years day is, as seen here (http://www.woodlands-junior.kent.sch.uk/customs/questions/bankholidays.html).

No it is not. New Years Day is a bank holiday which was passed as an act of Parliament.
