View Full Version : HabboxForum Newsletter
I think that Monthly HabboxForum should have a newsletter to let members know what is going on each month or 2 weeks.
A Certain amount of Newsletter Editors would be picked and they would get some of the most important topics of the month and write little articles about them.
There could also be some fun stuff such as interviews with staff or Habbo X's and then Furniture Reviews.

Lol, furniture reviews is an interesting idea! I think something along these lines may be in the pipeline, but if it is you didn't hear it from me ;)

I think thats a bad idea. A newsletter would annoy most members.

No, because most people on the forum don't care about Habbo.

Agreed.
It wouldn't be to do with Habbo. I said it would be to do with Habbox and have interviews with staff and maybe furni reviews etc.

Tbh a lot of people would eventually get annoyed about this, besides, doesnt articles and announcments tell us enough?

The newsletter won't work for very long, if it actually gets off the ground. Nothing happens at Habbox worth mentioning and not many people care about Habbo to bother reading a newsletter on it.

I disagree, people seem to be interested enough in habbox to rant and rave in the habbox feedback forum.

I'm sure this isn't needed for HabboxForum, and most key information is given out by Habbo in their newsletter. A habbox newsletter might work though, so long as it gives key information.

Do you even know what a newsletter is? There won't be any of that in it and it's made by someone who works for Habbox, not the users, which you just suggested it was...

I would like to think you know me enough to know that I do. Habbox staff are members of the forum too. They know exactly what has happened and are fully able to report on it. It is not unknown for staff who are able to write on the site to report on things that may not be in habbox's favour, for example Mrs.McCall had a series of articles that did just this, and I myself wrote and in-depth article explaining the theory and reasoning behind the firing of Undertaker. If the task of writing this newsletter is given to me and my team, I will personally make sure it includes ALL the important events. If it isn't in my hands and doesn't include major events, rest assured I will be writing in the same vein as I'm sure you will.

Below 40% of the forum would actually read this newsletter each week/month it is released. There is no need for one. Newsletters normally highlight all the behind the scenes news which on a Habbo Fansite, where all things are pretty much on show, would be pointless. There should be no behind the scenes stuff on a Habbo Fansite other than a managing system. If people want to read articles and reviews, they'll go to the articles and reviews pages (which aren't highlighted enough anyway) rather than read a newsletter which would have stuff readily available on the site anyway. It's only a good idea for people who want to write stuff for it, not for people to read it.

I think a newsletter could work with news of whats going to happen in each department and then maybe a write up of how each thing went that you wrote about in the previous newsletter. Previous newsletters have lasted a few months and then slowly died. Maybe a once a month newsletter would be better so that theres time to prepare it and to make sure theres plenty of interesting stuff in it. It would be a full time job for somebody who would have to chase people up permanently.
Of course you would have to sign up for this so you don't get spammed with stuff you don't agree to getting.

There used to be a newsletter about 18 months ago.
Cypher- wrote it, I think I did 1 myself actually.
It's difficult trying to get material for each edition (we did 1 seasonally) because there isn't much "radical" change in departments. Even if there is changes, it's posted on the main site or in the announcements on the forum.
Think about it, Events staff will probably re-cap people who won events over the last "<time since last article>"; Rare Value Reporters can state if there's been any changes to the system used or the big ups and downs; News Reporters can do a indepth analysis of Habbo news, giving opinions on good / bad changes.
There's nothing really original there.
There did used to be a Interviews section on Habbox, but it was deemed unpopular sometime late 2006 I think, the last of originality was again a factor with that I think.
Although this is a good idea, it'd need a broader guideline of what you would include and see if that would be accepted by management or not.

I think it has been attempted 3 or 4 times now but it needs a really dedicated person to do it :o I remember that getting content from the managers was the hardest thing and anybody without the patience of a saint would have quit doing it because it was like they were fighting a losing battle.

The bit in bold = Doing that would make Habbox a laughing stock when they don't even get close to their plans and currently, Habbox isn't organised as it should be for that to work. You would need a huge force of content/web designers to enable the goals set in the newsletter are met, currently they won't be. You would need deicated managers which Habbox doesn't have, all the managers seem to have one or more jobs which should be given to other people.
No one would dedicate their time to do it, because finding stuff to put in the newsletter would be a challenge. Especially when Managers may not be available to put in a few words. Although you can't really tell because some managers are in invisible mode, which isn't really a good sign for members, it shows they don't want to be disturbed or seen
It would just be another burden on the already burden laid Habbox.

The Announcement forum would be good for that, and the "Habbox Today" section on Habbox, and the other forums where competitions and events are normally added. There really would be no need for a Newsletter on Habbox.

There is actually quite a bit of behind the scenes stuff, usually in the form of planned updates that are in the early development stages. I'm sure users would like to hear about those, but since they're very early in development and highly subject to change they won't be announced in the announcements. Much like runescape's development diaries and behind the scenes articles on their main site. However, I agree that putting general articles and reviews in would be slightly pointless.

But only having updates and behind the scenes would be pointless on their own. Besides, a fansite shouldn't have anything behind the scenes, information should be shared etc. And upcoming updates I believe are being announced now.

Perhaps the threadstarter could ask for a poll to be added to canvass opinion?
I am not sure myself what extra it could give but perhaps Ed has something in mind that would get most of the members involved who perhaps don't have time to read the whole forum. A precis of what has happened and anything interesting that is about to happen. Could maybe make the forum a bit more proactive?

Or maybe something like a “HabboxForum monthly/weekly review” were the (Assistant) Forum Manager make an announcement with everything that has gone on in the background of the forum and that, that maybe interesting for some to read, although, it’s where the forum management find the time to write it.
