Well, I know this is going to come one day; so I'm gonna see what to do now.
You know when you have whole school assemblies, and its like every student and teacher in one area, and the head is usually chatting about something, and then she moves on to awards for like attendance and stuff, well one day I know my names going to get called out and I'll have to go up infront of loads and loads of people all the way to front to get my award and stuff.
Before, in whole school assembelies previously when she has gone on about attendance, I've gone into such a nervous state and I can feel myself getting really hot and that. I just really dont want to go up; and now we've got a new head and she might do this every term and not at the end of the year :(
Any ideas on how I can like, go threw them easily?
Many thanks.

Ironically, be absent on the day you are claiming your attendance award.

Ha true, but I'm not 100% certain when the actual assemble is.
I think I'll have to skive off ill one day, and lose a 'point' on our schools system. The only thing is I wont get the end of term reward, but sod it I'd rather not get that then have to go up lol, sounds stupid as it only lasts for like 15 secs actually going up, but like a good few mins for the nervousness when she chats about attendance..

Hope it all goes well for you anyway.
Let me know what you decide to do. It's not for another 5 weeks or so anyway is it?

i used to be kinda like that.
you have to think to yourself; 'jesus, ALL im doing is walking to the front and collecting something just like everyone else is'
if you think hard enough it becomes clear that its nothing and it should be the least of your worries
good luck in sorting it all out :)
I have the same problem, I was once reading something from a bit of paper infront of the whole school and embarassingly I was going red and my voice pitch was slowly increasing.

i try to think 'no one actually cares what shes saying, all they do is clap when the teachers do', and also what you did, like thinking 'jesus christ all im doing is walking up and back..'
and @ apk. you must of had guts to do that.

Well you are probably like me - you don't like being the centre of attention.
Some people love the limelight but you are what you are. Honestly I used to be the same until I realised that they are not really looking at you at all - they are just clapping the next person up. Good luck :)

im sure some people are ok about it, however one girl in my tutor was saying something to my tutor about assemblies and I heard hear saying "...but no one likes to go up..."
hmmm
tbh i was the same as u and as u can see by some of the post's your not alone in the way u feel all u have to do is take a deep breath and just get it over and done with how else do u think ppl beat there fear's? thay tackle them head on and by doing so u gain the curage to be able to do it with out the fear anymore.
i as well like apk. had to stand up in front of my class and read out my essay i had to do for english i took a big beath and got it over and done with it wasnt the best but i didnt focuse on what ppl where doing i just read my essay out yes i got lower marks becuase i didnt read to the class i read to the paper i had written on but atlest i beat my fear and that gave me a better feeling than a grade could ever do.
my advice is just get it over and done with or if u dont wish to do that becuase your not ready yet go to your head teacher and tell them about it and ask that if u get any awards for her to keep them and just pull u to one side when she see's u and give them u.

well actually, i just received an award at a ceremony last sunday. i felt alright about it at first, infact maybe even excited. but as it was about to be my turn, i felt just a slight bit nervous.
but honestly, it's nothing really. just go up there, shake the guy's hand or whatever you have to, take the award, bow and exit the stage. it's such a short moment, it's not that hard to overcome. once you're done with you'll feel very relieved and proud of yourself.
it doesn't feel so bad for me anyway, i enjoy taking part in drama plays and interschool drama competitions, so i'm on stage alot.

chew chewing gum, it helps!Aha that would be a issue at my school as Chewing gum is banned, it doesn't look very good getting an award for doing well and your breaking a rule while your collecting it :P
I never really had an issue with going up, however I'm not a very confident person at all don't get me wrong. Just go with the flow and be as normal as possible, nothing out of the ordinary, just focus on being normal and look at the floor, when you look up that worries you a little bit more and then you go red, and then you begin to panic etc :P
If you do have to look-up, do not stare at anyone or look at anyone in their eye's, just browse across the audience paying attention to no one in particular, and that includes the teacher's too.

if no one is laughing or make remarks about others what makes you think there going to do it to you ?
As my old dear used to say "Imagine them naked"

You should enjoy the attention. i used too. You can't learn confidence just like that, but doing this will help.

Some people enjoy attention others don't but learn to cope with it as you say :)

no one would laugh, its just that i feel like everyone will be looking at me walking up, on my own..
and @ the guy who suggested pretending everyones naked, i might get random erections. :P
