Twins separated at birth and adopted by separate parents later married each other without realising they were brother and sister.

The pair were granted an annulment after a High Court judge ruled the marriage had never validly existed.
The identities of the British pair and details of the relationship and marriage have been kept secret.
But it is known that they were separated soon after birth.
They were never told they were twins.
They did not discover they were blood relatives until after the wedding.
The case was uncovered by Lord Alton in a conversation with a High Court judge.
He used it to highlight perceived deficiencies in the Human Embryology and Tissues Bill, currently going through Parliament.

What... I don't believe that. When twins are seperated through an adoption agency, the parents are always told about their other siblings, unless the two children were put in seperate adoption centres. Surely one of the parents would've known before they married... besides it's far too unlikely to happen anyway, of all the people in the world they manage to end up with each other.

It aint impossible though.

I'm pretty sure for a marriage to be valid in the UK you need to have intercourse after the wedding (Well i've been told so) so that must mean they've had incest, ewww.

That isn't true, but one of the grounds for an annollment is that the person refuses to sleep with you i think i remember reading.

Full report:

Twin brother and sister which were separated at birth have met each other, fallen in love, had a baby and married each other... only to get their shock of their lives when they discovered they were twins.

The astonishing, albeit bizarre, story was reported by British newspapers, which said that the twins have now been granted an annulment after a court hearing. In their statement, the judges said that there were reasonable grounds to justify the annulment but the baby must be pt into foster care.

The names and details of the couple have been kept anonymous due to British privacy laws, but it was emerged that the two were separated soon after birth, The Daily Mail reported. They were then adopted by different foster families but both of them had no knowledge that they had a twin sibling.

The couple had no idea they were blood relatives until after their wedding, the Evening Standard reported.
Experts warn that it highlights the need for the rights of children to know the identity of their parents to be strengthened.

Professor Lord Alton, who uncovered the case, said new reforms drawn up by ministers threatened to undermine existing rights.

Lord Alton said: "The right for children to know the identity of their biological parents is a human right.

"There will be more cases like this if children are not given access to the truth. The needs of the child must always be paramount."

EDIT: No need of you to remove this - it's the name of a play about incest. If people do wonder what the word is, its a name for women who sleep around, begining with W

Not particularly. Logically, if you know 364 people, one of those people must share the same birthday as you. But that's just logically. For example, more people have birthdays in early september because everyone seems to be at it at christmas. :P Its not that uncommon.

Wouldn't there be a chance the baby they had would have some sort of defects?
