When it comes to Darren Toogood I have been one of the worst critisizers of all. He recently messaged me about becoming part of my MMOCC and I thought theres no harm in speaking to him and looking at his application. I have just spoken to him and hes completely changed, he is actually a really nice guy. Some of you should take the time to speak to him like I just have, it really will change your view of him. So please before you lay into him next time, speak to him first.

Personally, I don't treat him like I do simply because it's him.

I treat him how I do (which isn't that bad...) as he has the same attitude in EVERY thread. He thinks he is a great designer and everything because a few executives humoured him. I have been told myself that I am a good designer (by adults and people in the web dev./graphics business) but I still know I'm not THAT good. He seems to think that he is and so when we give him advice he doesn't take it.

I never treat him bad because of what he was like when he was younger (as I didn't even know him then, even though I came on this Forum). I know that I was an idiot myself when I was younger but I know, we all change.

Thing is if something doesn't go his way that's when he lose the rag.

A couple of months ago when Kurby was being developed for the first time. One of the staff got contacted by Darren as he wanted a job on the site. We told him that we weren't allowed to hire people under the age of 16 due to UK laws. He quickly turned nasty trying to say we were discreminating against his age and that he was going to take us to court. If someone says things like that to try and threaten me into giving them a PAID job then I'm obviously not going to change my opinion about them.

Darren it's because of your immaturity that got you to the position you are in, where majority of people are disgraced at the thought of you on this forum. Problem with you is you give people cheek then when you do work that isn't anything special, possibly even tippy toeing into the bad you complain when people bad word it. You need to grow up and mature before others will do the same around you.

I'm pretty sure when you're not in the picture most of the people are mature and take this quite realistically, however when you stick your big head in you muck it all up and kick people off. Like myself. When you tried to also threaten me when I was going to sell a layout I made for your old MMOCC as I left the company after reading all the truths about it. I even let you use the logo I made yet you still complained.

From the previous thread it's clear to see you haven't changed, still using other people's work for you own gain.

Darren, grow up then try to tell others.

DarrenToogood

I am mature thank you. Throughout your above post, your relating BACk to the PAST. The past is int he past and can not be changed, there is nothing I, you or anyone can do about that, however we have to learn to move on into the future.

I am not sure what you are on about 'using other peoples work for your own gain'.

Fuzion Magazine and my design work. Don't say "All I used was your images" if you look at it it's basically a shrunk down version of the original with grey text. Yet no where on your portfolio does it say "This was made by Greg Cooper". No as you don't want people knowing that the best bit of design work on your portfolio was done by someone else.

Then onto the big one Fuzion Magazine or whatever it's called. YOU DIDN'T DESIGN IT! A team of people did so you have no right to feature it on your portfolio. You don't see the guy who was part of the team who made the BBC site having it displayed on his portfolio as it's not his own work. It's the BBC Web Development team's work.

DarrenToogood
12-01-2008, 10:12 AM
Ok, just to clear it up I was the main designer on the team. The other name featured within the magazine credits (James) only did the little speaker design. I did every page layout, the headers and footers, imputting text etc etc.

I assume by 'my work' you are talking about MMOStartup. At the time I was working for MMOStartup and therefore has permission to use the graphics to create a splash page while the main website was being developed. I have not stolen your design, I used the design as I had permission to. If your that worried I will remove it, even though I don't have to.

Technically you do, due to the fact it's not YOUR design. I'm not on about stealing graphics, I'm putting across the fact you are using graphics and saying you made them trying to get customers. All you've done is add grey text, which didn't even get used on the site.

So remove the image.

DarrenToogood

I did do some design. I took what belonged to the business and made a splash page design. I think you are thinking of 'Design' as making things from scratch, when I see Design as taking other parts and putting them together, and sometimes creating things from scratch.

(I do not rip if thats what you are thinking).

Awfy
12-01-2008, 10:21 AM
No you're using MY WORK for YOUR PROFIT. I wouldn't take graphics you made then fling them together to make one and try to use it to make profit. As it's not my work.

Indeed you did make the Logo on MMOStartup, however you made it for the business, therefore the business can do what they wish with him.

http://www.waxcrayon-publishing.com/ are showing Fusion, however I did the majority of it, but I made it for Fusion.

Yeah, but that's a company portfolio not an individual's portfolio. Don't you understand the basics? MMOStartup have the permission to display it as theirs as it's theirs. Just because you made a splash paging using their graphics doesn't mean its your. You have no right to be displaying it as yours.

Take it off and make your own.

o. I thought it was another company who made it and you just took off. However, you should still get permission from the original creater of the logo.

DarrenToogood
12-01-2008, 02:22 PM
I should not have to, because once a design is made (Awfy's logo for MMOStartup) the business then owns all rights to that design, and the creator has no ownership over it.

Can I just mention why I dislike him?

I dislike him because when I didn't purchase his templates I must of burst his bubble because all I got was a why, my design is better.

I chosen Georges over his layout. Probably a mistake in telling him.

We all have our own opinions about each other, and no threads will ever change it. It's nice to see people sticking up for each other but it is our own opinions. Everybody must respect that.

Never use that word again Darren, you now have no right to since you don't know the meaning of it. Your signature isn't professional, I've seen better stuff made as a joke on Paint. Yours is so basic and serves no real purpose due to the fact your portfolio in turn serves no purpose.
