Welsh Dresser

I decided to make a welsh dresser. I love the shape but I think it looks like cardboard. You will probably say add wood effect but I am still a noob at pixel art and don't know how.

I'm making a blanket box, display cabinet, coffee table (I think it's a coffee table, all these ideas are from things I have in real life) and bookcase.

It wouldn't forever look cardboardish, if I knew a decent wood effect. I don't like the random lines wood effect that it says here (http://rhysd.syntesis.org/tutorial/index.php). With your wisdom you could tell me how.
