I think more people left Runescape because of the trading rules...

Big drop though...

I think at the end of this year, i think the players will leave!

Considering their growth had always been up up and up!
Now it's going down! ooer.
I reckon we all leave until we get pk'ing and trading back :D

They anticipated this. Thats why summoning, hyped as the best skill yet is released just after the worst updates yet.

Yep trying to soften the blow, but if you compare it since 2004, they are still doing about 4x better

if you look it peaks in december, this is due to people who don't play runescape any more are going online to collect the christmas items, so it isn't much of a loss.

Summoning will be F2P too so it shouldn't increase the amount of people buying members that much.

ok, based on looking at the graph ive attatched (taken from the site) heres my interpretations...

back in late 2001-early 2002 runescape was relatively new, not many people knew about it...

over time, word spreads, traffic rises, particularly around the release of runescape 2.

then in the second half of '07 with the new updates and skill being hinted at, traffic has soared because everyones been wanting to know more.

based on what was infront of me...i think that runescape is heading into a similar situation as what was going on between 2003 and 2005...i can only predict that after a period of much lower traffic...things will pick up again and be better than ever.

so to cut it short, no i dont think they have any reason to be getting worried

Thing is it's not going down, same as it was in aug, few months ago. They got rid of bots and rwt things. If they we're losing money now they would of resolved it.

What happened between 2005-2006? I came on rs on the summer of 2006, so I don't know what happened at all.

i dont know for sure, i havent been around on rs that long myself

i assume its due to new online games like WoW and guild wars and other such games coming out idk...others will know better than me

Vimto, that's habbo UK and not Sulake itself. ;p

Btw, what happened mid 2005 which lead to that steep drop?

Reckon it will meself. It may be F2P, but I bet it'll be one hell of a lot more substantial in members.

Might've just been summer - better weather and what not (the drops).

i don't think they would be very worried by that, although there's been around a 20 000 user drop lately.
there are enough complaints on the runescape forum for them to get the hint and something will more than likely be done soon.
basically getting rid of the wilderness to stop "real world trading" is plain stupid.
they could of just limited it to if the people die, they only drop that 3k worth of stuff. bounty hunter is stupid because no matter what, you lose everything on you.

summoning better be F2P, because if it isn't, i can only expect that drop to keep going. non members would be extremely annoyed.
Jagex don't seem like they give a hoot about their non members, so it will most likely be members only.

3k drops for wildy? -.-
Use 5 bloods and I'll be losing money, stupidest idea yet. Btw, you were meant to lose your stuff in wildy, its not a jump in there and escape with all your equipment if you die.

Summoning isn't going to be for F2P. Quest starts in member area. Jagex never did care for F2P. They're not paying. They got a dueling arena, one of the few updates F2P ever got. Jagex would be glad if F2P players leave. That way, they can save money on worlds.

Btw, my previous post was meant to say the graph is going up.
