Hey,

Yeah, doesn't this thread look familiar ¬_¬

Anyway, if I was to set up a Web Development Forum and try to get some of the great coders/designers of this forum to sign up/administrate the forum would YOU join it?

As I'm willing to buy the vB, Domain and everything right now.

Thanks if you post,
Simon

Leased probably and see how the Forum goes and then upgrade if it the Forum starts to do well.

I think its this forum and runescape (EW, -shriek-) thats the most used on a habbo fansite forum lol.

But yh, i agree that most forums die very quickly unless they have a steady stream of new and returning members.

I'm also thinking of buying the: "vBulletin Project Tools" addon. (£28).

"vBulletin Project Tools is a versatile add-on product that enhances vBulletin with project management functionality, empowering your community members to create projects, contribute to tasks, submit issues and view progress of projects. Seamless integration with vBulletin ensures maximum usability, and an administration suite within the vBulletin control panel allows full customization of projects, issues, tasks and user permissions."

Bah, nevermind: "Just bought vB PT and it doesn't let users create their own projects ;/".

I think I'll buy the stuff now and start to get the "team" set up this weekend (:

Yeah, if you could get the active users then obviously would be a good forum. However I don't see many people from here switching over to another forum especially if it's a niche subject. Forums like OpinionsFTW and so on haven't really hit it big, so you'd have to advertise the site like a pig advertises mud.

Also, another thing is I take it you'll be targeting HabboxForum's kind of audience? Habbo users or ex Habbo users. Which generally means that a lot of Fansites will be posted. Don't know if that's what your after or not.

As you know I love vBulletin so if you need help give me a shout.

Na seriously I do think it will fail, these forum projects never succeed. Eg OpinionsFTW that was ran by the best people possible with a lush skin etc. Why should people make the move to your forum? What more do you offer?. Personally I dont the the Web Dev section on here is ran badly. They only ever close threads if we start arguing and thats fair enough and the sections are divided up pretty well. I for one wont be joining :)

Too split up in my opinion, espeally for a new form.

Front end (design)
back end (coding)
tutorials

Possibly with better names really sum up everything you want in there in a much better way. Splitting em up to much just leads to empty forums and is annoying if people just want to browse the new posts in that area.
3 forums is all you really need there, subforums should best be avoided in most cases.
