I had to restore my computer and now my multiplayer rank is 1 again :(

Is it ment to put you back to rank 1 when you uninstall and reinstall it again...

Yeah. Unlike Battlefield your rank isn't kept on online servers - it's in the game code somewhere. I would imagine it's pretty hard to find so it stops people from changing it at will. Best thing is really is just keep a backup of the whole game folder.

If you keep a backup of your profile (Program files - Activision - Call of duty 4 modern warfare - players - profiles) then your rank will be safe. Theres no way of changing your rank back to what it was though.

I just opened cod4 not uninstalled or anything and its deleted my profile again

There are ways of changing your rank, try googeling it

They patched the offset in 1.4 but someone posted on the forum i got it from that the new offset is CC1A888
