Nov 2006: Alexander Litvinenko dies in London
May 2007: UK accuses ex-KGB agent Andrei Lugovoi of murder
July: Russia refuses British request to extradite Mr Lugovoi
July: UK expels four Russian diplomats
July: Russia expels four British embassy staff
Dec: Russia orders British Council to shut two offices
Jan 2008: British Council re-opens both offices
15 Jan: FSB interview staff
17 Jan: Both offices suspend work

Basically that's whats happened to make the countrys argue, wonder if another Cold War could be on it's way? Personally I think the Russians are acting like complete morons.

Don't forget when they flew near Scotland to 'Test' are responses, demonstrating the lovely but expensive EuroFighter jets :) - They also did that to the American's in Guam too. Also they accused MI6 of hiding Microphones in rocks to spy on the KGB (Or whatever it's called these days).

Russia doesn't want to be loved it wants to be respected, they think fear is respect in Russia, that's why they're wrong and won't fit in the World Community.

Both UK and Russia just appear to be taking little digs at each other, so a little Cold War could happen, not on the scale of the USA & USSR Cold War though.

I doubt another Cold War will start, most countries would get involved, and the Russian Government would have wished that they hadn't ever started it.

Yeah, The Russians are trying it on with us. I remember when they flew some of their cold war bombers near our airspace but got worried when we sent up our Typhoons.

I'd be interested to see if America would "return the favour" if Russia declared war with us.

pfft yeah right, for tony blair perhaps but Gordon Brown has been distancing himself from the US. I doubt they would help us until we had pretty much been blown to bits.

The US would help us, just like it was going to help Berlin against the soviets if Berlin was invaded which thankfully never happened.

If anyone ever did start war on the UK, then we would have help from the USA almost straight away, because russia has alot of gas.
Australia would be soon to follow and if it came to the point the queen can get australia to help us too.
The UN would probs come help us before that though.

So i wouldnt worry about that, also regarding the bombers they went into netherlands NATO area too, it wasnt like we were not expecting them because the netherlands contacted us so we just followed them on from there.

I doubt anything will happen soon, if russia wanted to get us then they shut off our gas, thats how we would be effected the most id say.

The UN would probs come help us before that though. The UN are useless, it would take over a year for them to set anything up and debate whether it's right, and that would be called fast for the UN. The UN does nothing at all for us, and it does everything far far to slowly with way to many departments. It's took them years to make decision's on North Korea's Nuclear weapons, by then though they'd almost constructed them. And they still haven't made their mind up on Iran and Israel etc, they just take to long.

The EU isn't much quicker either.

You must be forgetting that Russia is also part of the UN?

Russia aren't doing anything bad, and we're being stupid. If Gordon Brown wants a loss of gas to us then he'd continue the stupid way he is heading currently. These planes being sent over remind me of school children saying 'My Dad is better than your Dad'. Seems even Governments can be immature idiots at times.

What the hell happened to the general public being allowed to have a say here? The government remind us that we are all equal, yet I don't see them at all asking about what we want to see. My local MP is a complete moron. I'm not up for filling out forms to send to the Houses of Parliment in case even more of my details get lost. :eusa_clap

It's not like the EU that you must be accepted in, it's just basically a peace and aid force where countries get the chance to group together. It doesn't do a lot of good as nothing ever gets anywhere with it.

Meaning that the UN aren't going to 'assist' the UK, instead they'll just negotiate with both countries to end whatever childish junk they're doing.

There shouldn't be a war these days but anything can happen.

Our best help is the American's, the EU and then the Commonwealth in that order.

I think most of the countries in Europe would help, because if Russia declared war with us, they are at risk as well. The Commonwealth would also help us, along with the US.

You seem to forget, if Russia have (I say if because I personally am not sure if they do) nuclear weapons we could all be wiped out in approximately 3 minutes. Its a scary thought really. Theres more chance of a cold war because a WW3 could destroy all life on the planet. Well, except the cockroaches.

Yeah, it's just too bad that COCKROACHES CANT SURVIVE A NUCLEAR BLAST. S'been proven, you fool. It's a myth. Saw it on Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe.

You claim to be tidying up the forum of idiots, yet you yourself act like a complete moron and always seem to insult people at every chance you get? You should include yourself in your signature.

Anyway onto the thread, I doubt Russia would fire because when Nuclear standoff occurs, the term 'MAD' comes into force, meaning both Russia and NATO would all be wiped out equally.

Russia have nuclear bombs, it's not up for debate it's a fact, they freely admit it, it's like we legally have nuclear bombs, so do they.

I'm sure Russia would think carefully before letting off a nuclear bomb, they don't just think 'Lets end the war, good bye London' - They'll never be a World War 3 ever, you'll get a nuclear war which very few will survive.

no, it would be alot worse.

Britain alone VS Russia in a Cold War would be minor compared to the Cold War between the former USSA and United States.
