we have a youtube videos forum, but not embedding youtube support. Could you discuss adding this bbcode?
<object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/{param}"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/{param}" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>Just a suggestion. It's not hosting the videos on the forum server, it's like the img tags, but with youtube videos :)

I saw something once where you typed VIDEOLINK and it'd embed it. A certain mod for vBulletin.
if you ahve this, can you disable it in signatures and only have it on the youtube part. if so, it would be good

No you can't, so it'd be well annoying.
I'm all for the idea though.

There's nothing wrong with just clicking a link, it only takes a sec - if that?

it isn't a security risk if they say it is :)
as all you input is the last string from the URL

I know it's not a risk but that's what they're going to say in terms of vB mods.

It's a custom bb code, they don't modify any files at all. ;) It's a built in VB feature. :)
So they can't pull that one on us.

Indeed, vBulletin should have a custom BBcode editor, that's where spoiler came from at least.

It is, say a user posts some "sex scene" onto the forum, whoops there goes the rules out the window! Where as posting links means its at your own risk to view :)

They don't play automatically, or shouldn't do at least. So you wouldn't see any sort of sex scene, unless it's filmed in the middle of it.

To be honest if it shown on prime time TV it can be shown on a forum like this. They will just have to add a new rule. And it's youtube, anything that is really sexual gets flagged and you have to confirm your birthday or it is removed.

Sex videos are against the Youtube rules.
Post one, it gets removed, very quickly.

It could be from the start and the "preview" is still shown.

Indeed however swearings acceptable but not on here (direct anyway).

Still the small chance.
All you have to do is click a link, its really not that hard.

There's a small chance someone can post a sex picture. It's the same risk anywhere to be honest.

I belive this rule would be agaisnt the new feature.
A11. Do not post or link to obscene or inappropriate websites, images or videos - Posting (links to) videos, images or sites that contain anything obscene or inappropriate is not allowed. If you are linking to a website with swearing, you must say so in your post/thread.
Direct exporting into the posts from youtube as said could be inappropriate even if you add a notice saying it contains swearing its still posting directly onto this forum where as posting a link is another website but you can warn everyone before hand.
Unless that rule changes, this addon wont happen.

We aren't going to link to anywhere inapropriate. It's youtube videos. I was saying that putting a rude youtube video is the same as posting a rude image, both are possible and both have to be moderated. Youtube moderate their own videos as well so that cuts out most of the work
