Indirectly adding information to bump the thread is not allowed I believe, which is what most people do.

This is the rule so if you are adding new information it is fine. Strictly speaking then it doesn't matter if it seems 'you bump' but it has to be legitimate new information that you are adding. That's my understanding, anyway.

Confirming these two are correct. Stressing that your second post would have to be outside the editing limit which is 15 minutes.
