Hey, i got 3 gerbils a while ago and it seems that one looks pregnant... The guy at the petshop said they were all female, But we suspect my gerbil is a male, But for some reason its IMPOSSIBLE to get them out/train them so i cant check to see if he is a male or not. Ill psot a picture of the one i think is pregnant in a sec, But how long does a pregnancy take/how do i know for sure she is?

if there anything like hamsters while there pregnant, leave them! if she is pregnant and you disturb her she will feel threatend (sp?) and eat her babys. :) usually on males they have a big bum.

poppy is the one we think is pregnant. And spiffy we think is the male.

hmm, if she was pregnant she would of made her self a bed and stay there untill she gave birth, check under the other 2 to see any differences to find out if you have a boy. If still not sure take them to the vets they might know the difference.

If one has two tiny testicles, it's a boy.

Just so you know what testicles are, maybe I should post a pic

Lol. Btw, gerbils dont spit out babies, they lay eggs, just like rabbits and rhinos.

Gerbils are mammals. They have a live birth.

to sex the gerbil, gently press the lower chest. if it's male, you will see the penis. i know you said you can't pick them up, but it's either that or wait a while until you've got a baby gerbil.

if it is male, consider separating the male from the females. furthermore, are the gerbils young?

Gerbils do lay eggs, just like Rhinos and Horses and Dogs.

Lol why would she eat her own child? She's cleaning it or, probably eating the placenta.

i'm not quite sure myself. try checking the gerbil in which you suspect is a male again. if you still can't get hold of it, you could take it to the vet or just wait and see if she does give birth.

I'd throw out the gerbil if it ate it's babies.
so wrong.
