Ok, I feel I have to express my opinions on buses or I'm going to explode.
The bus is my only way of getting to and from college, unfortunately.
Last friday, I left to get the bus at 7:30. The bus came at 7:45 and arrived at college at 9:15... It usually takes about 50 minutes, but for some reason it took absolutely ages and decided it would take 90 minutes! The bus came early and got me there late... woo.
Today I finished college at 5:00. The bus didn't come until 6:15... I had to wait in the freezing cold weather for 1 hour and 15 minutes... What the hell? Why have time tables if they don't stick to them? I only got home a few minutes ago!
I spend 9 hours waiting and travelling on the bus each week, and I only have to go in 3 days a week... We have like 36 weeks at college, thats 324 hours each college year. I'm gonna have to get the bus for atleast another 3 years, so thats 972 hours altogether. Thats 40.5 DAYS of my life wasted over 3 years! Over a month of my time gone.
The bus is unreliable.
Mostly always late.
Never sticks to time tables.
It stinks.
It's dirty.
It's uncomfortable.
It costs loads.
I have a special bus card and it still costs me £216 each year to get the bus to and from college. If I didn't have my card it would cost about £270+.
The bus is a bloody joke!
Does this apply to anyone else?
Do places like America and Australia have the same problem?

That's the problem with public transport and why people would rather have their own car (or plane for that matter).
The point that its dirty isn't really their fault its the people that use the bus but yes they should clean it more often.

the buses around here are usually always on time and they just upgraded with new seats and windows and stuff for all the public buses in the city.
And wow you have to spend 50 mins on a bus to get to and from college? I would lose my mind sitting there that long lol

They're not that bad tbh, in the mornings they are on time, its just on the way back from college they're always late, costs £52 a month for a first bus card and tbh the buses dont stink, are clean, comfortableish..

Our buses got upgraded to really nice ones, then they degraded them. :S I guess because it's always packed and the new ones were only single deck buses.
50 minutes, minimum. If often takes longer. :eusa_wall

Ok, they don't really stink, but they arnt very clean and they are not comfortable.

EMA is the only way I survive. However, if my bus cost £20 a week, I would refuse to get it and find different transport.

My mum thankfully gives me money for dinner around £5 but she can't keep doing it everyday ( she doesn't work) the only income we get is from my dad working (manager).
EMA can just about cover my costs for travel and food.
But I don't really need food luckily on Monday's and Tuesdays because i go there at 9 and come back around 1 on mondays and around 1:30-2 on tuesdays.
So I keep some money for wed and thurs as I got full days and friday have no college.
I also can save a bit of money for myself.

Two buses... mission. :P
I have to survive entirely off EMA. £20 a week. I'm still waiting for my bonus.
I make myself a pack lunch to save money. :8
How much money for yourself? £1? Seems like you have to spend a lot. :P

Our busses here seem on, but while i was in aderlaide they had a great system!
$2 for 2 hours (about 80p) then when it runs out it you just have to buy another, OR you can get these 10 trip things where u can use them 10 times and they cost like $7.
They also have like a little ticket that u put into a machine and it reads it. Its sorta like a credit card, so u dont even need to show the driver your ticket.
Its a great system.
And iin singapore they pay a set fee a month and it gives them unlimited travel i think.

Monday and tuesday I take £5 which is 10 for 2 days, leaving 20 pound.
But i only use 3.45 leaving me 1.55 + 1.55 = 3.10 which is ok?
I leave 3.10 for next day added a bit of money to it to make .45P to get bus, then my mum gives me another £5 for dinner, then if i don't buy expensive i save money again and for thursday.
Honestly I only have like less then £10 for me, but because I don't spend my money and my mum buys my clothes with her money (lucky boy lol ) i have EMA untouched in my bank which is all good.
But If my mum asks for money i just give ( not like I need it badly ) im 16 :P
( Don't drink/smoke) im blessed lol.
bonus should come end of January, so either this week or next.
Markness.

Its a joke imo.
Global warming this, less polluition that. Yet the buses smell like wee, absolutley stink of smoke and are freakin uncomfy.
Given the choice, i'd have a car anyday. *REMOVED* the environment

I wait for like 5 minutes for the bus, and it takes me like 20 min to get home, I have no problems with it, maybe the buses don't like you Chris?
I know, it's a pass take. driving in a couple of months so it's fine for me.

wow, thats bad.
the bus at the top of my road comes every 30 minutes, but sometimes its every hour which is annoying if i have to be somewhere at a certain time, otherwise ill have to walk 30 minutes to a different stop with a bus which comes every 30 minutes. and because i live 150m from where leicester city sign is (im on the edge of the countryside), i have to pay £4.40 for a day pass, compared to £2 which is just typical of arriva. they are probably the worst bus service provider as they always increase their price. the price always increases slowly, but once they decided to double the price and now they have decided to get rid of child day passes, child return and give poor service. so **** imo.

£4.40 for a day pass!? Omg! It's like £3.00 here. A day pass is cheaper than a return to my college. They do charge the earth. Seriously they got rid of child return and day passes!?
I calculated it wrong. It would cost about £325 a year without my card. =/

Yeah, Stagecoach is pretty good. None around where I live though. :(

The government moan about cars, but if trains and buses are not going to work properly then why bother advertising them like they're better and cheaper than running a car? To tackle congestion, they do need to do something with public transport. If there aren;t enough buses and they run late, then no one is going to take them if they have the ability to drive.

yep lol. ages ago i was like child day pass please and he was like, no sorry we dont do child days or return. i was like WTH. the stupid thing is that my loads of kids catch the bus who go to the high school next to my college, so that means they have to pay more, and if their family dont have a lot of money, thats just unfair.
i dont see how the government can tell everyone to use public transport more, and less using cars when public transport is so expensive. ridiculous

ERGH
I can not stand busses, luckily i get a bus pass which gives me free travel on the bus during college time.
But as you say they are never on time, not clean or comfortable.
I have to catch at least 2 busses to get to my college sometimes 3, and recently the bus time table has changed so the first bus i normaly catch only comes hourly now which means I will be late for college if I do not get the earlier bus.
As for coming home from college, it's a joke.
There is sopoused to be a bus that runs every ten minutes from my college to the bus station, I have been waiting at the bus stop for nearly half an hour until one bus shows up, when there are 3 different busses which run near enough the same route.

I catch a bus into town and then a bus out to get to school.
The bus in isn't so bad because it comes about every 10-20 minutes and is normally the new buses with like tv monitors with crappy adverts and that lol
But the bus from town to school is a ****take to say the least. Single decker and never comes when it should, and comes like every 30minutes at least.
Also there's so many times when i sit in town and see it come in but never come back round like its supposed to :S Some days i see 3 buses come in and not come round which means i end up waiting for like 1-1 and a half hours!!
Pretty annoying.
However college isn't so bad because its in town so only the one bus :D
