On the sun's website they have got pictures from NASA showing life on mars.

it may look human like, but what would it live on?
and i think we would ahve spotted something sooner because mars IS that close to earth.

not fake, just an illusion in my eyes

i like how they said an amateur astronomer..

An amateur astronomer commented: "As far as I'm concerned, this is proof.

it actually looks like a shadow of something

Hmm, interesting. Although it could just be some rocks. They should look again in a few hours, if the 'thing' is still there, then its nothing, if it is gone, theres life on mars.

I believe it is just a pile of rocks, but there could be life on mars. The planet does get quite cold though. But even clouds have been spotted on mars.

I never believe newpapers though.

Four years ago!? Why is this guy posting old news...

It's obviously fake then since nothing else has been announced.

nooo the news wasnt four years ago...

Published: Today

THESE amazing pictures seem to prove something geeks and Sci-Fi fans have suspected for years - there's life on Mars.

Nasa's Mars Explorer Spirit sent us these images from the surface of the Red Planet four years ago.

After intense scrutiny, pictures that could be a living being have finally been found.

An amateur astronomer commented: "As far as I'm concerned, this is proof.

"What else could it be but a human-like creature?"

A pile of rocks, perhaps?

Ah, that could be hard to find it again. :P

It could be rocks but it looks like a human holding their hand up as if it's to be kissed. Interesting...

If it is life maybe temperatures don't effect it?

Still fake I say. NASA aren't dumb, they would have kept checking it frequently to see if it moved and since no other news has been announced I'm guessing it didn't move.

kk.
22-01-2008, 11:22 PM
what i think happened is that they didnt fully observe the photos properly until recently and then they released them. I dont think its life, someone must have found it by now with our technology i mean come on lol

EDIT: OMG you can see footprints on the first picture looool

Come on, NASA observe every image from Mars they get. Of course they would have observed it properly. They must have some super telescope or whatever they use to check heat levels and things aswell to see if there are living things. The Sun lie, they're a joke. :P

There aren't footprints?

Well they're in a kind of small ditch. A small river or stream or something could have flowed there once. Or it's possible that the rest of the surface could have been disturbed by wind or something and the fact that it is in a ditch is how it managed to avoid the wind.

I think the sun has just taken the pictures and made up their own story. :P

WOW, I'm a believer.

How can anyone think that's real? Let's look at the source; the Sun, well, we all know that the Sun evaluate all of their reports making sure they have decent evidence-not. Oh and it's good they've quoted an experience astronaut so they know what they're talking about.

I'm not joking, NASA have some little car like machine driving around on Mars. Actually, they have two. One is called Spirit and another is called Oppotunity. They both landed on Mars in 2004, which is when those pictures were taken. NASA are launching another in 2009.

We did have one called Beagle 2, which was hopefully going to beat the Americans to Mars, but we lost contact with it shortly after it went up into space.

They probably are, but planets further away from the sun are obviously A LOT colder and so life on a planet such as Eris is incapable. The only other planet capable of inhabiting life (not including Earth of course) is Mars, so researching that is more important.

yeh, im not saying its not a satellite, im saying that it is 'technically' a planet..

The fission theory stated that the Moon spun off from Earth early in its history. The Pacific basin was the scar left by the tearing away of the Moon.

there is one very plausible explanation about the birth of the moon, which not only answers where it came from, but explains the earth and moon's rotation and current orbit. Called the Big Impact Theory, it states that the moon was created when another celestial body about the size of mars crashed into the earth.

No it technically isn't.
Planets, orbit the sun, the moon orbits the earth, in the style of a satellite,
which is how we made our satellites. The moon is nothing like a planet,
only that it floats in space.

The moon isn't a planet and never was. Yes there is theories that it was some rock that broke of from Earth during the formation of the planets but it has never orbited the Sun making it not a planet.

i find that offensive, please warn him :| (joke by the way)
you have read that i did take astronomy as a GCSE in yr 10? and was interested in it

i am really sure that a planet can orbit another planet. And if you read the rest of my posts, you will see what i mean :|

its just like saying a moon cannot have a moon. well, yes, they can

oh and what i said came out wrong btw

Something that orbits something else is a satellite. A mass orbiting a star is a planet, a mass orbiting a planet is a moon. A mass orbiting a moon is a moon of that moon i think.

do i have to say thsi one more time?

ok, according to my research, they are called secondary planets:

http://press.princeton.edu/chapters/s8247.html

The name given to each of the heavenly bodies that revolve in approximately circular orbits round the Sun (primary planets), and to those that revolve round these (secondary planets or satellites).

if the planet has a large gravitational pull (meaning that it is an extremely large planet (or dense)) then it can have a planet orbit it, similar to how a planet orbits a star

Lol, maybe you should zoom, focus on the texture of other rocks that have no light shining on its side so darker and soon see ;)

'Secondary planets OR SATELLITES' You should have just listen to us the first time. :P Obviously a planet would have to have a large gravitational pull for something to orbit it, but something orbiting a planet is not called a planet, it's called a satellite.

No, or is one or the other. A secondary planet and natural satellite are the same thing, you can call it which ever one you want.

Actually reading over it again it makes more sense meaning two things. However, something orbiting a planet is still a satellite. :P
